ADN Or BSN?
In my area, many schools are phasing out the ADNs. It looks like some places are asking for a BSN as a minimum requirement to hire nurses. Check with your advisor.

What do nurses think about doulas?
Oops! wrong place to ask!! I think I'm going to ask to actual nurses. I am interested in people that can offer unbiased and professional opinion about doulas. I'm a student, too. Some of you actually provided good insight about it. I'm not ignoring those comments!

What do nurses think about doulas?
I have an acquaintance who is a doula, and I honestly think she is annoying. They seem to insist in natural births when they are not health care professionals. I know they are trained and can be really helpful, especially for first time parents. I could be wrong, but I think that what really matters is the health of the baby and the mother, not if the baby was delivered naturally or assisted (I had both, a lady partsl birth and a c-section). Doulas like to attack the use of pain medications and c-sections. What do you guys think?

Is that hard???

Is that hard???
I'm a junior. I'll start my first semester of clinical rotations in three weeks (yay!). I've always been a A's student (a nerd since elementary school). I consider myself a good test taker; I like to take my time to read my tests, and I always get A's. I love challenges and questions that force me to think. The least amount of classes I've taken is four. I took seven classes once, I got A's in all of them. I'm also extremely organized, so I think that's what helps me. I can't wait to start nursing school to understand what is the difficult part of it! I'd love to hear what you guys think! What is the hardest part of nursing school?

how to pass fundamentals of nursing
English is not my first language either, I can tell you that I'm a good test taker. I'm never the first one to turn the test in (I'm usually within the last ones). I finish my test, then I review it all over again to make sure I read the questions well, and I always find things I have to correct. It has always worked for me.

It might seem too early, but I started buying all my nursing school supplies from Amazon.com already. Last semester, I noticed that prices go up as the new semester approaches.

Dwmoore is right. The neighborhood grant is excluded because they give you the school of nursing grant instead, which is about the same amount per semester as the neighborhood grant. I would check with financial aid before taking the decision to go to another school. I have a friend who is applying for NGTC, and she told me that they have 97 qualifying candidates this year and only 30 spots.

Piedmont College applicants 2014
I already turned in the acknowledgement form and the deposit today. They told me that we will receive instructions about uniforms, books, and supplies at the end of March in a two-page letter, as well as background check and drug test. Who else is going to Demorest campus? :)

Piedmont College applicants 2014
Well, I'm going overseas for spring break, so I wont be here next week. Something funny happened to me today. I went to pick up the mail, and I saw this small envelope from PC. I thought "this is to small to be an acceptance letter." I got nervous, and when I opened the letter it just a parking ticket of $25

I felt that my interview went really smoothly. The faculty liked the fact that I'm bilingual, and that I will be done with all my pre-req this semester before entering the nursing program. I asked them when we will receive a notice of decision, and they said by the end of Feb. What about you??

LVN or straight to RN?
It's a waste of time. It's better to go straight to the RN program. In my area LPNs are not even finding jobs. I go to school with many LPNs. LPN programs are being phased out over here, and it's even hard to find a school that offers an LPN-RN bridge. I'm so glad I only took the first semester of pre-req for the LPN. Then I moved to the BSN program. Best decision I've ever made!!
