  1. Mine was very relaxed and conversational. I interviewed with one person only and they were very kind. They asked about my nursing experience, my interests in the program and how I decided on WHNP. My advice would be to have an answer to 1) Why SUNY vs. another school? and 2) Why you want to work in our chosen field? Best of luck to you, and hope to meet you in class one day!
  2. Congrats @Deerunnergirl ! I'm also very excited. Hopefully we can find a way to connect with our classmates despite the virtual learning and there being so few of us on here!
  3. Hey everyone, I was interviewed and accepted this week to the Women's Health NP Program at SUNY downstate. Any other WHNPs out there who have applied or been accepted? I know we're a small group, but hoping to connect with some of you before fall ? Good luck to all the applicants and congrats to everyone who has been accepted!
  4. Hello! I am applying to the women's health NP Program. Deadline is coming up soon, and I've been trying to get an idea of what the schedule for this program is like. I was told by admissions that classes only meet 1 day per week, though I'm not sure if that applies to all semesters, especially considering clinicals (which I assume there are?) I currently work full time, M-F, so I'll need to cut back my days/ hours. I just need to know, to what extent. Separately, anyone currently enrolled in this program enjoying it so far? Thanks for your help!
  5. Our nicu is always giving us these trial handoff sheets to try out. The best ones for me are the ones that mostly go by body system, kind of like our nursing notes. Before they started printing them, I always set mine up this way... Background Name, Gest Age, DOL #, General history (status post this this and that) CV/Respiratory Vent settings, cardio drips, A/B/Ds, relevant diagnoses (PDA etc) Fluids & Electrolytes/ Nutrition/ GI/ GU IVFs, feeds or npo, I/Os, girths, ng/og tubes, relevant diagnoses (NEC etc) Meds (I organize these later, by order of administration) Labs Any bloods scheduled for your shift Other Phototherapy Y/N, Recent/ Upcoming scheduled procedures Social Needs Hope this helps!
