Must-have gadgets for the nursing student
Hey jtboog2003, I know this is an older post but was just wondering what note taking app you used. I have not found one yet that has impressed me much. Thanks for your reply. Sandra QUOTE=jtboog2003;6975418]I just wanted to add: a lot of you say how you love your paper notes and highlighting, and I was the EXACT same way. I thought taking notes on my iPad would be really weird and distracting since i always used paper. It isn't. I take notes right on my electronic paper just like you do in your notebook or powerpoints. I highlight on my iPad just as you do on paper. I can have the teachers notes as well as my own all under a single folder. I just wanted to add that because it doesn't seem that some people are not fully aware of what note taking on the iPad really consists of. It may not be for you and that's fine, everyone learns differently and prefers their own thing. But you can do basically the exact same things as you can by using pen and paper as you can on the iPad. I can record, highlight, add text, underline, add pics, etc. to notes that were made by my professors. Or just make my own notes.

What do you use to take notes in class
Thanks soxgirl. I usually do this but I end up writing chicken scratch and end up having to re-write or type my notes afterwards. Seems like to much time spent on it when I could be studying.

What do you use to take notes in class
Thanks Devon Rex. I have seen people do that in some of my classes. I do the reading but don't seem to remember enough of what I read to know exactly what part of the book I read it in so that I can highlight it. Lol! Any tricks you would like to share with me on how to do that?Sandra

What do you use to take notes in class
Hello everyone, I am wondering what you guys use to take notes during class. Do youprefer the typical way to take notes with paper and pen? Or do you use laptops? I am not a very fast typist so this would probably not work for me, but willing to try it I guess. I have also heard of smart pens sold at best buy that write with ink but record voice and note can be downloaded into a PC. Have anyone of you heard of these and if so would you mind sharing your experiences with me. THanks a million everyone! Sandra

Any Other Mid-Life Students?
Hello, Kerri. I am not over 40 yet but will be 40 in a few months. I will be starting my nursing program hopefully in April and I too have been out of school for 13 years. I a needless to say nervous. But you might be surprised how many of us are out there. I am a mother of 2. I have a 5 yr old and a 3 year old. When do you start your program? Sandra

Congrats everyone. I am so jealous. Wish I was at the end of the road. I am barely getting ready to start and I am scared to death about how hard I hear it will be. The anticipation and the unknown are killing me!!!!! Lol!

How do I study this?
Good luck Danny girl. I am on a waitlist as well and waiting to see if I make it for the spring quarter at my school. I have not started yet but I keep hearing as mentioned by one of the members here. Don't study to memorize. Study to understand the material that is brewing presented and do lots of practice questions from your ATI book. Good luck. I am in your same shoes with my previous college years far behind me and taking sciences one at a time. I am done with them all and waiting to start program. Keep us posted on how it goes. Best of luck. I bet you will do great!

Best Nursing Shoes/Sneakers
Has anyone of you tried Klogs. I like them the best. They are very comfortable. I worked as a transport orderly in my day and these shoes got me through my shifts nicely. they are not as heavy as dansko and they are very cushy feeling. good luck on your search.

Happy new year everyone!
Hope all your resolutions come true and may you all reach your goals.

Taking physiology before human anatomy
I would not recommend taking phys before anat. It will be easier for you to understand how the parts and systems work together if you know where they are located and how they are connected. I guess if you had to you could do it but it will take alot more footwork to make sense of it all. Alot more work that way and it could already be a busy course as it is.

How do you think like a nurse?
I am not in an RN program yet, but my guess would be B. if you cleaned it from the outside in it would decontaminate what was already cleaned. But that is just a guess. Sorry to chime in.

What was the hardest course youve taken?
Microbiology!!!! I passed with an A but my kids and husband did not see me for a quarter. It was by far the hardest class I have had to take. Lots of reading and a TON of studying.

NEED HELP STAT!! How to tell a 10 year old his parent will die? He is on his way!
This is amazing. I am not a nurse yet but on my way to starting in Spring. I just want to say that as a nurse you guys make a huge difference in peoples life. I lost my mother 13 years ago and a nurse helped me get through the initial pain of losing her. She was as wonderful as Esme was with that little girl and that is what motivated me to want to pursue this career. Thank you Esme for going above and beyond and for making such a positive imprint in a life during such a painful time.

What to expect
Hello, everyone. I am a prenursing student and will be starting nursing school in the Spring. I was wondering if I could pick your awsome brains? I am just wondering what to expect when the program starts? Like, what you may have found to be the hardest thing about nursing school? Or some study tips to succeed? How where the clinicals and what sort of things you encountered? Thank you so much for your responses.
