  1. I started a facebook Page for our group called JJC Nursing Students Fall 2014 send me a PM about joining it if you want. It is a private page for the students that graduate fall 2014 and start in the spring 2013. You have to be added by some one in the group to get in. I would be nice to get all of us in there.
  2. I got the digital books. I love them and can download all of them and get access even with no wifi.
  3. That is good to know about the books. Because the the nursing dept told me it was only good for four years. Now I will definately get them if you can keep the digital copies.
  4. Personally I live the e books. I have only used Pearson books in the past, but what I like is I can record the lecture with my iPad and read the book at the same time. I took bio 251 over the summer and replayed the lectures over and over to help me study. Hopefully these new books are just as good as Pearson. They do take getting used to, and with Pearson if you don't download the chapter early and the wifi is down, you don't have a textbook.
  5. Books will be available when you enter the codes, but keep in mind they have an exoneration date of four years from when they are activated. That is the only downfall to the digital books, I believe.
  6. I only have to get the second part of the tb test then I will turn in everything.
  7. I just went to a place in Naperville around the fox valley mall to a place called scrubs etc to buy my shoes. They offer 20% for students all times and they have an email sign up when you text them you get an instant 30% off your order. I think their scrubs are better and they have scopes and blood pressure cuffs also. It was much better then life uniforms in Joliet. And did I say 30% off. Yeah me!!!
  8. Where ever you go just make sure it is american heart association. Some fire departments are red cross.
  9. Yes, Edward is for health care providers. They actually have both. the website will specify which on is which. I showed my card to the department and they said it is the same one they give. I took the class a month ago. and the book you get is the same one everyone gets regardless of where you take the class, and Edward has a nice cafeteria.
  10. Has anyone heard anything about the shoes we are supposed to wear. they never mentioned it is the information session.
  11. I think It is best to use the TEAS study guide from ATI. everything in the study guide was on the test. If you do not want to buy it, most libraries have a copy or two. If they don't ask them and they might order it for you. I didn't use anything else.
  12. Where are you doing cpr at. I did mine at Edward Hospital, they have several dates and it is only 50 dollars compared to JJC 90 dollars, and it is a 4 hour class verse a 9 hour class at JJC. they are the same classes. It might be worth looking into. save you $40 and 5 hours. Here is a link to the class schedule. hope it helps. http://www.edward.org/cpr
  13. I agree I spent 254 at they fitting, I paid the 70 for back ground (just finished the drug test). Now I have to wait to see what my doctor is going to charge on Friday. I figured books for the entire program is about 2170.22 and maybe 1500, for digital plus an iPad 16 GB with retina display ( Ipad mini would be cheaper.) that number I figured without the 25% discount on books if bought in a bundle and I used books currently sold for the nursing department for the fall 2012 semester. No one can tell me what total book will be. I think i might lean towards the digital, even though they expire in 4 years and regular books you can keep forever, I am just not sure yet.
  14. I just found out digital copies are $267.25 Package of books are $507.25 individual books are about $580
  15. So far I have stayed the same, but I would love to have more time to lose weight.
  16. I was also wondering about Chamberlain. I have some good and some bad for different people in the industry. Like a BSN from Chamberlain would go to the bottom of the pile when it comes to getting a degree, compared to others. I do not know if people were trying to scar me away from there or not? Does anyone have any reliable info about chamberlain?
  17. I think bsn would be a better way to go.
  18. A lot of these comments kind of scare me as I am just starting schooling for nursing. If if isnt good what other things should I look for, maybe radiology?
  19. look at all requirements for your program and you can figure out if you should take it again or not, my school only lets use take it once a semester. Another college I looked at only required a score of 56 over all, and was more concerned with grades than ATI scores.
  20. It all depends on you school. I received lower than that and I was accepted into my program. I also have a 4.0 gpa which helps offset my lower scores. I scored a 75% over all.
  21. That is good info, I was look for it also, thanks!!!
  22. I need eight more post, seven now. lol
  23. Sorry I just got the message today. I have been busy with bio 240. In case anyone is with me or not I am in days with the white group/clinical. Which it is with Kania. Is any one considering getting the digital copies of the books or just the regular ones? Sorry Purple, all nurses still will not let me PM so I cannot respond to it yet. I think I still need several more posts.
  24. Sounds great. Thanks PurplePRN.
  25. Just curious, what specialty does everyone want to pursue after they graduate? I think it will be really neat to be a flight nurse, which I guess a person will have to have five years of ER/ICU experience. I just do not really know what a good direction will be, or what specialty will provide the best chance of employment? Thoughts everyone.
