  1. I'm sure you will be just fine. I'm still in nursing school and I just finished PALS last Thursday because my employer offered it. It is centered around knowing good BLS, a few medication dosages for the written exam, and algorithms. Since I finished literally days ago... The primary meds are epinephrine, amiodarone, adenosine. The algorithms are for cardiac arrest, shock, and respiratory distress/failure.
  2. Really late but in case someone is scrolling through this... I am also a CNA in nursing school. I was hired at $11.80/hr + differentials at a palm beach county hospital. I chose to go per diem instead of full/part time because it paid an extra dollar an hour.

The quiz is number 7 on the packet checklist. It says it isn't due until January 7th but should be included in the packet if you can complete it, it was very easy... I finished while watching TV.

I need to buy my books, pay for classes, and get my medical form stamped (Already have the shots, just waiting for my medical record to come in so that I can complete it). You should join the facebook page, we have been talking about all of these things. The fb is "PBSC RN Program Spring 2013". Also, I think you forgot to list/complete your online tenet orientation quiz. :)

I currently work per diem; I'm probably going to switch to two nights a week when the semester starts and adjust more if necessary.

Trying to find the Facebook page. I think I am going to use my normal nursing shoes, plain white sketchers Work. They clean up really easily and are non-slip. :) they were around $60 when I bought them.

I wokr full-time at St. Mary's at the moment, I may switch to 2 nights a week. That welcome package is really scaring me out of continuing to work full-time.

I finished mine a while ago at Paramount Training Services, they are located on Blue Heron and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend them!

    Fingers crossed for today.
  16. Unfortunatly I am not familiar with "wordSmart"... While there is a large portion dedicated to vocabulary, ALL of the questions on my exam were related to the medical field. The vocab section from the study guide was spot on. It probably wouldn't hurt to use the SAT book, but your time could be better focused.

Not just books... I've heard the shoes alone are over 100 bucks. We need uniforms, stethescopes, pen lights, and then the massive amounts of books! Help me out Santa lol

Heres a copy of the e-mail, if you need any of the attachments let me know and I'll try to figure out a way to post them... (as long as I'm still in town). It shouldv'e been sent to your school e-mail not a personal account, just in case there was any confusion. Greetings, I know that you are anxiously awaiting notifications regarding acceptance or denial to the RN program. If you have not started thinking about your “Plan B” if you are not accepted; I encourage you to begin thinking about it now. I ask that you consider the LPN program. The LPN program is highly respected in the community, is an excellent way to begin your nursing career, is very affordable and covered by financial aid. Upon successful completion of the LPN program students are eligible to complete the transition to RN program. You are welcome to attend the next information session for Palm Beach State College’s Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) that will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 5pm in ETA 159 of the Lake Worth campus. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early so that you can park and get to the room. Attached you will find the application checklist for the program and a flyer for the program. The application deadline is November 15, 2012. Please contact me if I can be of further assistance to you. Best Regards, LM

You'll do fine, I'd be psyched just to get in! I want the list of supplies needed so I can start making up a christmas list and limit my own out of pocket costs as much as possible. :)

Did you talk to anyone that gave you the friday date or are we just hoping? I'm so anxious... I'm going on vacation soon and I am so nervous that its going to post and I'll have no idea for close to 2 weeks!
  22. KSpriggs replied to Stooshy's topic in Florida Nursing
I freaked out, I thought it might be an e-mail that was targeted to people who were not going to make the cut. I just want the "accepted" e-mail.
  23. KSpriggs replied to Stooshy's topic in Florida Nursing
    Fingers crossed!

Did everyone get the LPN backup plan email?
  25. I recently took the HESI and scored a 92% overall, I feel that the best study guide was "Admission Assessment Exam Review" I bought it on Kindle but there are also paperback copies available. Most of the vocab that I saw on the exam were medical terms and the grammar was elementary level. You said that English is your second language so I'd make sure that you know the following: there, their, they're, your, you're.... there were a lot of contractions and homonyms. Examples of some of the vocab questions were: A patient was recently admitted for an acute cough. What does the word "acute" mean in the previous sentence? If you get that study guide it will definitely be worth it, good luck on your exam!
