Wearing scrubs in public...
Honestly, I dont think the question should be whether we should wear scrubs in public or not but the question should be "Why does Marilyn have a job answering questions from people with too much time on their hands and does (most likely) zip research before she answers them."

Funny things you have said but wish you didn't
I was getting report from a nurse I did not know and she told me my patient had had a bilateral lobectomy and I looked at her and said "Oh my gosh! Both ears?!!!!!!!!" She did not think it was funny.

Why are some staff nurses such HATERS!
Ive NEVER gone into a facility and discussed my pay. Actually agency pay is not much more than core staff anymore. My regular job did not give overtime so I would work a lot of agency. I know most of my friends that work agency do it for the flexable hours. We never know when and if we will be cancelled or how many hours we will have a week, if any. I love agency work but now I have to have a full time job with benefits and retirement. (Though some agencies do have benefits). I think the facilities are the ones who throw it in their own nurses faces. How many times have you heard "Please work so we dont have to pay a gazillion dollars to agency"? Exaggeration. But I hear that all the time at my full time job. I want to hug the agency nurses when they come in.

Why are some staff nurses such HATERS!
I work as a staff nurse and an agency nurse. Some places they can be really rude and at others very nice. I feel some are not rude because we are agency but because they are just unhappy period. They probally are just as bad when we are NOT there. I just go in and do the best job I can and go home. Kill em with kindness. Be the better person.

Refusing to be trained for "Charge"
At the hospital where I work there are lots of nurses who refuse charge. Not because they are lacking confidence but because they are smart. They know how short staffed we are. They know if something happened on the floor due to understaffing that administration would NOT stand behind them. This is the case at many, many facilities. No one is going to take up for you BUT you. And no one is going to cover your butt but you. I do not blame ANY nurse for refusing charge.

"i need help"
Reporting this is a good idea. Though thru experience I have found that when an elderly person feels this way there is nothing you can do about it. He is set in his ways. Sad but true. My suggestion is, is to let someone else care fot the patient and if noone else is available then the patient has a 'right' to refuse care. Just document, document and document. Because most likely he will say you are neglecting him when in reality he is refusing care.

RN with a record, need HELP
The Judge and your attotrney are correct. But the charges must be expunged BEFORE you reapply for your license. Make sure ALL agencies clear your record off their computers. And make sure you have the expungement papers handy just in case an agency makes an error and the charges are not taken off their computer. If this happens the Board will get ahold of the charges. I had a charge years ago and got it expunged and the Kentucky Board of Nursing got ahold of it and it took a year for me AFTER I applied to get my license. Then I moved to Florida and marked to NO box and they got ahold of the charges. They Told me as soon as I faxed them the expungement papers they would issue me my license and they did. This was a man that knew the law and that it was illegal for them to hold expunged charges against me. The charges I had were not Felony charges. Also, I went to the court system and got them expunged myself. I did not use an attorney. Soooooooo much paperwork. You could probally do the same. Good luck.

RN with a record, need HELP
Everyone makes mistakes and it sounds like you are doing a good job correcting yours and getting help. Any Board of Nursing should be satisfied with your progress. But any Board is not your friend. They are there to "police" you. You must tell The Board of your charges. Otherwise, when they find out, and they will, you will never be able to get your license. Bring a good attorney with you. A great one. Because they have the best. I have never heard of any State expunging a felony charge. But if it is expunged no one has the right to use the charge against you or even have record of it. Good luck with your recovery and with your License.
