I would not repeat questions that you already reviewed and understood the rationale and why you got it incorrect. Focus on what you are scoring the lowest percentile in and shoot for an average of 60-65%.

Ugh still waiting for Texas BON to update with license# so I can start applying for jobs. TBON supposedly only updates on Tues/Thurs... I ended up paying for quick results just for a peace of mind and it was indeed a pass.

After graduating nursing school two years ago...I finally got around to take my nclex-pn and passed on the first attempt! Now I don't really know where to start to look for jobs...I've read so many horror stories about finding jobs with no experience. To start, I've been a pharm tech for a little over six years now...five years in retail and one year in mail order. I have a job offer at a magnet hospital to work as a inpatient pharm tech which pay ranges $18-21/hr but it is pretty much capped there. I'm hoping that I can find a lvn job that will at least equal or beat that amount. Is there a specific places that I should apply for that is typically easier to get hired? LTAC, nursing homes, etc? By the way, I'm in Houston, TX if anybody know some place hiring. :) Thanks!

I graduated from HCC LVN in 2012...let me tell you med-surg is no joke. I had to sit out a semester because I failed med-surg I, barely passed it the second time, and then barely passed med-surg II. At that time, I despised the school and the instructors because of my shortcomings and how harsh their attitudes were (except Mrs. Brown...she couldn't be any sweeter). Everybody was always talking about how they were trying to weed people out and etc, but in the end, it was all worth it and for the better. I need to stop by and thank the instructors because of how hard they drilled us. I delayed taking my nclex-pn for two years and was still able to pass it on the first attempt with less than a month of reviewing.

From what I remember, yes, they listed both generic/brand names.

Ped and maternity were also my weak points lol. Luckily I only got a few of them. There were a few questions asked that I didn't even recall learning/seeing in nursing school...completely clueless.

Thanks! I actually got a lot of multiple choice questions...2-3 math and maybe 15-20 sata. A lot of disease related questions...I was hitting myself for not even glancing at my med-surg notes. I did not get any listening or charting questions...but I did get I think 2 put in order questions. After taking the NCLEX, I think it would've been pretty easy if I had taken it right after graduation when med-surg was still somewhat fresh in my head.

Omg just got home. Delivery Successful and good popup!!! Let me tell you that I felt completely unsure on 75-85% of the questions I answered. I was a bit relieved but also disappointed when it didn't shut off at 85...I ended up doing around 185 questions and was there for a little over 3 hours. Keep in mind that I've been out of school for exactly two years now and didn't really start studying/reviewing until just 2 weeks ago. Hell I just memorized all my lab values just yesterday... I did the Hurst review a couple of months ago, watched all the lectures, but didn't really absorb much since I didn't really look over the material I wrote down nor followed up with questionnaires. My Kaplan qbank scores ranged from 55 to 70...and occasionally a 40. I did about 650 questions on kaplan qbank.

It's been a long time coming but I'm finally taking my NCLEX-PN tomorrow afternoon. I graduated back in 2012 but my ATT was delayed due to being in enforcement for almost a year. I have been a pharm tech for over six years and was working part time throughout nursing school. I went full time after I graduated and even with the ATT I kept on delaying the exam because I was so caught up making money. Sadly I wasn't paying attention and let the first ATT expire (this was almost exactly a year ago). I quit my pharm tech job four months ago and was only studying on and off since I was unmotivated due to forgetting so much stuff and discouraged when I would do the questionnaires. I tried all sorts of programs- NCSBN, Hurst, and Kaplan qbank. Hurst was good if you need to refresh some basic stuff, but IMO, it wasn't worth the money and didn't really tell how well you were progressing. Kaplan qbank I actually loved using since it gave scores in different categories and you can focus on where you are scoring the lowest. I started scoring mostly in the low 50s and ended up in the high 60s / low 70s. I also used LaCharity Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment book and it was really worth it (I started to understand what the question was trying to ask due to this book). Sooooo I will see how effective my studying was when I take my exam tomorrow! Stay tuned! I'm doing a few questions and reviewing lab values today as well...but mainly taking it easy and let my brain relax.

Bringing up an old thread since I'm in the same dilemma. I think it's kinda absurd to have to reapply to the BON just to retake the exam. I'm not sure if it is the same with all states, but Texas BON makes you go through the entire application process, which includes the $125 fee, fingerprint card, etc. What makes it worst is they won't let you use the online application since it is only for first-time applications.

I'm sure enforcement varies from state to state so not sure how much it will help. Mine were for juvenile charges; I went ahead and got my juvenile records sealed and forwarded the court documents to the enforcement officer. No stipulations were placed. Exactly 4 months. I wrote a very well thought out letter detailing the charges which was required. By the way all, I found out I did not miss the re-schedule...my ATT expired. I did not know that there was a time limit on the ATT. None the less, I did not take the exam because I had only invested about 10 hours studying and I've been out of school for a whole year. Definitely was not worth lying to my current employer to pretty much blow on the exam.

First off I'm a He lol. I've been out of school for a year now and delayed my exam due to having my application go into enforcement for a juvenile record, which is now sealed. I'm not working as nurse right now, but in the pharmacy. I'm not going to take the exam because I barely even studied, how I got the 65 on the pretest I don't know, but I could barely remember all the disease processes. I'm just going to call the BON tomorrow to ask about requesting another ATT.

Although that is encouraging, but I'm definitely sure I'm not ready since I made a 65 on the ncsbn pretest. In addition I work and cannot just take the day off without prior request.

So I am scheduled to take the nclex-pn this Monday, but meant to reschedule since I am not ready yet. I knew that I had to reschedule within 24 hours of the testing date, but was not aware it was 24 hours on a business day only. $200 down the drain... Now I couldn't find a straight answer off of the Texas BON, but I know the current ATT will be invalidated since I am missing the exam...does anybody know if I will have to pay any fees to the BON to request another ATT? Thanks

Sorry all..didn't really know where to ask this question. But I am a LVN graduate but have yet to take the Nclex. None the less, I have a BB stuck in my hand for around 10 years now, doesn't really bother me but occasionally it rubs up against a bone. The BB went through palmar side and is very, very superficial on the dorsal side. It is sitting between the metacarpal bones of the index and middle finger. I have tried in the past to remove it myself using EMLA cream, a #11 scalpel, and magnet...the EMLA just did not work deep enough haha. I don't have a PCP so I don't really know who to ask, but what type of clinic/physician should I look for to remove the BB? Thanks!

So I just recently got my lvn and was planning on working for a few months and try to get in a lvn to bsn bridge program. The only few that I know of around this area is HBU and PVU, but I believe both are very competitive. The situation is that my grades were not the best while in the lvn program, I had to repeat med-surg once. My grades were mostly B's with a few A's. My clinical were all A's. Anybody familiar with any other programs that is not online? Thanks! Also, I did have all the pre-req to do the adn program back then, but I started in 2006 which the credit is probably invalid now.

My case was approved with no stipulations!!! I had five juvenile misdemeanor convictions from petty theft to burglary of motor vehicle. Long process. I sent in declaratory order in October 2012, case didn't get moved into enforcement until December.

Well my forth month in enforcement is coming up on May 15...hopefully when I call in they will have good news for me.

My case went into enforcement on Jan. 15th. No update yet from TBON, but hopefully soon. I had a few charges for theft under $50 as a juvenile. No criminal records as an adult. And I just got my juvenile records sealed 2 months ago.
