  1. I work 6pm to 6am. I generally sleep from 9 am to 4:30pm, I try to stay on the same sleeping schedule when I am off work too. I use white noise machine, keep the room a cool 68 degrees and use a blackout curtain. I usually feel pretty well rested, but this schedule is rough on a social life. Have always been a night shift nurse, I groove on this schedule.
  2. You might try a white noise machine, or run a fan for noise. Also on your off days try to stick with the same schedule. And dont let yourself sleep 18 hours, sleep 8-10 hrs then get up. Also try doing some yoga stretches. Benadryl, Melatonin, etc didnt work for me either, white noise, keeping the room about 68 degrees and using blackout curtains did help me. Good luck from a long time night shift nurse.
