Is it Possible?
I am currently a Pre-Nursing student looking for different Nursing Schools to apply to. I have A's in all of my non-science classes, but when it comes to A&P i've gotten 4 Cs!!! I am trying to get into some of more competitive nursing schools, so here is the quesiton: If I haven't done too well in A&P, but have a 3.7 GPA and other impressive experience, can I still get in? I have studied in Africa and did a 3 month internship in Kenya. I've volunteered in 3 different hospitals all 3 years of college, and had a 4.0 three semesters in a row. what do you all think? is it possible to get in with C's?

NICU Vanderbilt...
I am not a nurse (YET!) but I am currently a Volunteer at Vandy Children's Hospital in the NICU. Like it was said, the facility is beautiful and all the nurses I have encountered so far are really helpful.

College student needing some more info about NNPs... Please help!!!
thank you babycheekz for asking a good question. I am also a junior in undergrad majoring in psych., hoping to become a NNP. I know that for my school, we have a bridge program where we get a bs in psych, then do 2 years at vanderbilt nursing school in nashville to get a MSN. As of right now i am volunteering as a cuddler in a NICU. It is a great experience because i am able to interact with the babies, and learn my way around the NICU. I would definitly suggest volunteering! once again, thanks for the great thread. I am wondering the same things that you are.

Being a NICU Nurse is a mistake!
Thanks Everyone For The Suggestions! I Told My Family Some Of The Things You Said, And They Acted Like They Understood, Yet They Are Still Introducing Me To Their Friends As "my Pre-med Daughter." I Was Watching "trauma: Life In The Er" And One Of The Doctors Was Stitching Up A Guy's Cheek. My Dad Made The Comment "i Bet A nurse Couldn't Have Done That!" I Guess They Wont Get The Picture Until After I Get My Bn... Oh Well!

Being a NICU Nurse is a mistake!
All of my life I have wanted to work in the NICU... now that I am in college I have a little problem: I have already chosen pre-nursing as my major, and almost ALL of my family members (except my mom) have made it their job to tell me what a HUGE mistake I am making. They all say I'm stupid for being "just a neonatal nurse practitioner" when I have the chance to become a neonatologist. I have explained to them time and time again that I have explored all of my options and have made my final decision. I know that I am the only one who can make this decision, and it really shouldn't matter what others think, but even my DAD is against my choice and with me being a "daddy's girl", i care deeply about what he thinks. I AM NOT changing my major, but can anyone give me some advice on how to make my family see the benefits of nursing and that being a nurse is NOT a bad thing? or am i just making a big deal over nothing?

advice for undergrad student
Hi my name is angel and I am currently a soph. in undergrad. I don't know if this question has been asked already (if so, i apologize) but I want to be a neonatal nurse and wanted to know how many years of training you have to have in order to work in the NICU. I know I have to graduate from undergrad. (duh), but where do I go from there? Nursing school... Grad. school... I'm the first one in my family to go to college, so I have no idea! Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
