I wanted to congratulate you!! Such an accomplishment and I hope the future holds similar for me (trauma/ER). What hospital are you going to be at?

I am a first semester nursing student and I have to work to support myself and pay for school. I work roughly 40 hours (Fri-Sun. Three 13 hour shifts). Thankfully,my work lets me take off before exams so I can be prepared. You just do what you have to do and prioritize everything. It's definitely possible. Goodluck!

I am a first semester ADN right now and in each class we have a large amount of reading which is done on our own time. We also have skills check offs which are considered major grades, assessment assignments, vocab or med term quizzes, participation grades like chapter reviews and discussion posts, as well as dosage calculation homework and quizzes. I'm sure I'm missing a few things and it seems like a lot to take in buy if you keep organized and in top of your reading.m, it works! I accept I cannot read every single chapter in depth but I can understand concepts and how it all relates. What helps me is taking It week by week. Every Sunday I plan out what is happening the next week like major assignments, quizzes etc. so far that has been my beat tool... Best of luck to you! It's a great experience :)

Hi all: I am not one to usually get irritated and rant. I am a quiet person that is 99% of the time, very upbeat and happy.... That being said, I am so irritated with an email we received today from one of our online blended classes (health assessment). We had an assignment due this past Sunday and apparently a lot of people did not do the assignment because the email stated the professor was going to reopen the assignment for those who did not do it and for them to get it done. Personally, I feel like that is a little unfair for those of us who are proactive and complete our work on time. This is our first semester and I work full time and still manage to organize myself and get my work done. I even have all A's right now. So for the people who did not turn in the assignment when it was actually due to get another chance just bothers me. I know I have other things to worry about and my own grades to keep up, but it's frustrating that I work so hard yet these individuals get a free pass. Maybe it's because we are first semester and they are being easy on us, I don't know. Anyway, my little vent session. I know life will not always be fair so I just wanted to rant and get it out of my system. Thanks and goodluck to everyone!!

I was an alternate for my program that started Spring '13. Got the call the week before orientation. Stressed to get all the documents and vaccine info ready. But totally worth it. I am loving my program!

Finally! I got the phone call and I am no longer an alternate but a true nursing student :)) Orientation this Friday and I am ecstatic! Thanks everyone for your continued support and advice!

I applied to Blinn College in College Station, TX

...and I'm an alternate for the spring 2013 admissions! I could potentially be offered a spot between now and January 14th. So nervous about very thing! I have no idea what number I am or how many alternates there are. In also just so thankful I didn't get rejected yet! Haha

To get into my ADN program for spring 2013....They are sending out admission letters Tuesday! So nervous!!

Hi all, I joined this site about three months ago. I am a 24 year old pre- nursing student waiting to find out if I have been accepted to the local RN program in my city. I applied once and was not selected so if feels like I am holding everything on this second application. I am in statistics and AP 2 right now and I am just exhausted. Finals are around the corner and with working full time, I just feel like I will never get where I want to be. I know in my heart I am destined to be a nurse. I cannot imagine doing anything else in my life. Our school doesn't send out letters until after the fall semester grades are in, but I honestly don't know what to think if I get rejected again. I will keep going until I get in but sometimes that thought is just frightening! I'm an average student (grade wise, A's, B's and one C). It is defeinitely harder working full time (for financial reasons) but I will go through whatever is handed to me if it means I end up with my RN. Anyone else have or had these anxieties before? Any advice, prayers and encouragement is gladly accepted. Thanks everyone and God bless :) Sam (p.s- sorry if any typos....2 am studying going on )
