Re the job market. The BSN is a quickly becoming a requirement so during clinicals make friends with the nurses.

I'm going into my third semester. I asked about the books just to see if you have a newer edition now. But the nutrition book you will need open, and the pharmacology book you might open (I read the first chapter and never opened it again), but you the pharmacology chapter in the main text will suffice. For med-surg you will want to get a book that will make learning the drugs easy to understand. Make sure you get your math perfected. Although drug calculations of tablets aren't difficult, you will need to get 100% to pass the class. The exam will consists on calculations of tablets and injections and your second semester it will be on IV's. You will have this exam every semester until graduation. Calculators are not allowed in lecture exams but they are allowed on the drug calculation test (which is a lab exam) Definately get a nursing diagnosis handbook and a drug book to assist you with your care plans. You may not start clinicals until 4 weeks in to the semester but that is what will help you. I think they have two lab books on the list (unless that has changed), the main one and the check list. I'm a visual learner so the checklist was useless to me. Trust me on this get a study aid. Saunders is a great study aid and so are success books. second semester is psych and med surg. You will have to find a good balance for the two classes because each one has three components. 2 lectures 2 labs and 2 clinicals. Which of course means exams within days of each other and care plans and drug cards due every weekend. Durig med surg and psych is when your knowledge of drugs really come into play. They will most definitely be on your exams. I'm not trying to scare you. I just wish someone had told me about the second semester so I could plan properly. After midterms I had to request my work schedule to be part time and it made a world of difference in my stress level and my studying.

Fundamentals will be a cake walk compared to the second semester. When class starts get a study group going of no more than two people. You will rely heavily on each other for the second semester.

Which textbooks did you buy. I can tell you right now which books you'll probably never open besides the text and which books outside of what's required that you should buy.

Don't lose hope. Some people won't find out for sure until after the summer sessions.

Congratulations for those of you who were excepted. My advice to you is to call the department and ask for any information about a CPR class. There is a professor there who does CPR class which is AHA approved. I can't leave her name here but just ask. I paid a lot less than most other programs. Any word yet? Schedules for the originally accepted students were done last week. I think the next step if it hasn't already been done is to contact those on the waiting list.

Deadline was yesterday. Hopefully waiting list letters go out sometime next week. Good luck to those that are still waiting.

Not really. I think the school will have to find a new store, a store that has these old fashion uniforms as well.

Yes the ones from the shop. Saturday was the last day to be fitted.

We had to uniform fitting by today. My question is for whoever gets in after the 28th what will they do regarding uniforms. The owner's wife is very ill and he asked that fittings happen by today because he wants to be able to take care of his kids.

You should go to the SAAS center and speak with one of the advisor's there. They will give you a booklet of all the pre-reqs you need before you can take the NLN. BIO 251, PSY 101, Math 138, CHEM 105, ENG 112, and I believe ENG 150. My gpa was a 3.3. You must have at least a 2.75 and cannot fall below that AT ALL. Make sure you keep an eye out for the posting when it is time to apply to take the NLN. I just so happened to go on the MEC website and saw that it was time to apply. It should be posted around December - January. Good Luck! As far as the other acceptance letters, the next deadline to get our medical forms in is on 6/28. I would think that the remaining letters would go out soon after.

Just a list of everything that's needed and some forms. You have to be matriculated at Medgar for one semester before you can apply to the program. I believe it's the same at all CUNY schools. If I didn't get in, then my only other sensible option was to apply to more private colleges because I don't have any pre reqs to take an I'm not taking up a semester taking bs classes just for the sake of applying the following year.

I'm not sure. I would call the department and find out. It's probably best to get if from there, because you know rumors run rampant at this school.

I got my letter on the 22nd. The letter was dated on the 19th. I got accepted! So excited!

Yes I think you got accepted! I think I remember seeing in one of the older threads some of those things randomly popping up. I still have nothing.
