  1. I got a call about a week ago. I'd submitted my application a week before. When did you submit yours?
  2. Sorry @Spoiled1. I thought I was responding to @tigerita.
  3. I got an interview at LSU and TWU. I've also applied to Our Lady of Lake, MTSA, University of North FL and FIU. I've applied to six schools because I'm not very "competitive." It's been an extremely tedious and expensive process. Your GPA is great, so you shouldn't have any problem getting accepted. Are you applying for fall 2014? I would suggest getting your CCRN since you do not have much experience.
  4. That's great! How did your interview go? I interview at LSU on Oct 15th! I'm freaking out. Was UT Memphis a clinical interview? I should be studying right now!
  5. I received an invite for interviews at TWU and LSUHSC and was wondering if anyone else got an interview.
  6. My GPA is 3.17 and science GPA is 2.90. GRE score is 297. I have 1 year STICU experience in a level 1 trauma center and I have my CCRN. Applied to 4 schools and I already got 2 interviews. Waiting to hear from the other schools. You have a great GPA. Do well on the GRE. Take it soon so that you can take it again if you need to. CRNA schools aren't nearly as competitive as it used to be because so many schools are opening up, and many schools like TWU accept a lot of students (150/year). This worries me a little out of fear of over saturation, which will drive salaries down. Don't let anyone discourage you from following your dreams. Again, your GPA is pretty competitive especially compared to mine. :) I'm applying with one year experience but you will be more competitive with more ICU experience. I worked Med-Surg for 2 years prior. After one year, I feel like I've only gained the basics of ICU nursing and I'm just now putting it together. I'm applying anyway. :) Good luck!
  7. I have an interview at MCCG. What ICU do you work in? Do you enjoy working in the ICU?
  8. I love nursing and couldn't see myself doing anything else. However, some days I seriously consider going back to my job at Home Depot because it was a lot less stressful. Granted I'm only 25 and have only been a nurse for two years. I love nursing so I couldn't imagine how awful it would be for people that get into it for the money. You don't get compensated for half of the amount of work you do.
  9. Hey. I was gonna go down to Grady today and attempt to meet with the manager of the SICU. I was told that she may not be very receptive to me just showing up (Don't know how true that it). I became a little intimidated and chickened out. I got her e-mail from a friend today and I am gonna e-mail her my resume. I was also told that she is really tough with her interview questions etc. Maybe I shouldn't listen to others but hearing all of this is a little discouraging. Any suggestions?
  10. Yea I would prefer not to work in the MICU though since he works there. At this point, I'd take anything that I can get.
  11. I spoke with someone today and they said that I will just have to wait to for a call :). My bf works in the MICU and he went down there and they pretty much hired him on the spot! This may be what I have to do. I know that some managers don't like when you do that but I know that I will be a great asset to their team. I will see what I can do in this upcoming week! I am expecting no less than an interview! I want this too badly! Maybe you can help me with interview questions (I never really had a nursing interview because I transitioned from a nurse extern position to my RN position without an interview). Thank you so much! You are so very helpful.
  12. @Mikel3113…I desperately would like to become a part of the Grady Critical Care Team. I would like to work in any ICU, preferable SICU though. I have 2 years of Med-Surg experience but no ICU experience, which is my challenge. I'm quite sure that I won't receive a call for an interview because of my lack of experience. I know that I could win a manager over if I was only able to meet with them face-to-face. How could I meet with one of the managers? I don't want to be abrasive and just go down to Grady and fight my way past security :) Please help!
  13. Could you please email me at [email protected]? Thanks in advance
