  1. I'm here in the DMV. I don't graduate with my BSN (I'm currently in an RN-BSN program) until April of 2013 and my recruiter told me that he can't submit my kit until November. He said I have to be 6 months away from graduation soooo quite a few people will have had their kits reviewed before me. I am still going to keep a positive attitude and hope for the best!! I am also anxious to know what the "numbers" are going to be for this year. How is your process going MBRN74?
  2. I was told the board would meet at the beginning of FY2013 which is October. I was not given an exact date so we'll see!
  3. Hello everyone! I must say that reading these posts have me nervous! It took awhile for a recruiter to get back to me so I just recently began the process. I spoke with my recruiter yesterday, filled out some basic paperwork, and he said his target date for us is the second week of Sept. I didn't realize how early everyone else has submitted their paperwork!! My recruiter also didn't seem to make a big deal about the fact that I in the beginning phases. He said no later than the end of Sept but the sooner the better. I'm just hoping that everything gets done on time!!
  4. Thank you all for the response. I am torn bc this is the ideal job but don't want to end up without a job. I'm going to wait until weds of next week to make a decision. The other offer will still be on the table until weds. Again thank you for your input.
  5. So I was offered a job, filled out pre-employment paperwork and was set to go through hospital orientation next week. I received a call today saying that I wouldn't be able to start orientation next week because my paperwork wasn't signed (and therefore couldn't sign the written offer). I was told that the position I applied for needed to be reviewed and HR didn't know how long that was going to take. I was told not to be alarmed but I can't help it. What should I do? Continue to wait? Shall I pursue other options in the mean time? I also received another offer and don't want to turn it down and then end up jobless!! Any advice?
  6. Just curious if anyone has heard anything from HR concerning the new grad position?
  7. Thank you both for your advice!! I will continue to read my maternal/child health book. I am a combination of excited, nervous, and anxious. This is why I busted my butt in nursing school! Thank you again! Best of luck to you Kayla.J.RN!!

Hello everyone!! I graduated in Jan 2012, took my boards in March, and FINALLY got a job in OB! They are starting me off on mother/baby then will transition me to L&D. I'm so excited! The thing is, I feel like it has been so long since I've been in school. I've already pulled out my text book and have started brushing up on a few things (assessments and what not). Any recommendations on what I should be brushing up on? any books specific to this specialty that are recommended? I would appreciate ANY kind of advice...even words of encouragement :-) Thank you all in advance!!
  9. Hello! I'm in the DC, MD, Northern VA area and passed my boards in March 2012. I JUST got a job. Keep your head up..it will happen eventually. I should also say that I turned down 3 jobs offers. I did this because I really wanted to work in a hospital instead of clinics. Luckily, I was in the position to be able to wait until I received an offer from a hospital. Best of luck to you in your job search!
  10. New grad ADN in Washington DC on L&D floor. $25.85( with benefits + 10% diff for evenings 15% diff for nights ) or $41.78 w/o benefits (44.12 for nights).
  11. Thanks anyways! I've already contacted a recruiter. Just waiting to hear back from them. Seems like its taking an eternity (it's really only been two weeks). I'm a combination of curious/anxious/excited about beginning this process! Thanks again!!
  12. Thank you staugnurse for your response. Is the navy seeking experienced grads over new grads? Do new grads always start on med/surg?
  13. Kim, Thank you so much for your post! I really do appreciate it! I'm hoping to hear from a recruiter soon...Thanks again!! Pam
  14. Does anyone know what the current needs of the Navy are? I spoke to someone who used to be in the nurse corp and they told me anything psych is in high demand. I was also told that the Navy is in no way hurting for nurses. Is there anyone that can tell me what specialties are in high demand? Also what does the navy prefer...new grad or experienced nurses? Hopefully I get a response...my last post wasn't so lucky
