  1. Unfortunately I did not get called back. Guess it wasn't meant to be. But good luck to everyone else!! I wish everyone here their dream jobs!
  2. I applied to PICU/PEDs and my status has not changed even though someone I know who applied to the same units did. My instructor even texted me to check what my status was. She tried to pull some strings with her contacts to get me through but unfortunately, a lot of it has to do with that personality survey they outsource to Talent Plus so I don't think I will be moved forward. Still. Don't lose hope. They don't give offers until December so there is always a chance!!!
  3. Do you know what unit it is for? Because I'm all Peds and PICU and still see no status change.
  4. I have not yet. But my friend has just an hour ago. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and still keeping up hope. They can't eliminate alot of us. There are 6 spots and as far as I know only 16 people who got the initial interview.
  5. I think it's because alot of the specialties are double applications for both the ucla santa monica hospital and ronald regan so it counts as 2.
  6. I applied to picu as first choice, and peds as second and I have not heard back or had any status change as of today. From what I've read about last year's winter cohort and previous application they sometimes don't get back to us until the very last week before interview invites are sent out (especially for pediatrics). Still doesn't stop me from checking my status 2x a day though
  7. I don't know if they'll ask the same questions because different units but be prepared to talk about why you chose that unit. Clinical experience: what you consider as the worst and best things about nursing. The interview is literally timed 10 minutes. I was so nervous that I fumbled alot through it despite my preparation but the interviewers were nice.
  8. Just did my speed interview and it was something like 10-15 minutes with basic questions. Fingers crossed I get called for a second interview!! It's so hard to make an awesome impression in such a short amount of time. Hope everyone gets called for their selected unit soon.
  9. I did but I think it's only PICU so far. I scheduled it for next week and I think it's more of just a meet and greet with the floor managers. Super excited!
  10. i applied to PICU and Peds. To previous commenters about the signature line, no a signature was not originally there (emailed the recruiters). Good luck everyone!!!
  11. I have not yet been contacted and I submitted my packet a week before the deadline. I applied for PICU and Heme/Onc because those were my favorites when I did my Pediatric rotation. I think they said that invites for interviews start around late October, early November on their website. I hope everyone gets it!! Good luck everyone.
  12. They said on the application that it might take until today September 15th to get the packet. Make sure you check your spam/clutter boxes too! (especially if you have outlook) Hope you got yours!! CAnewgrad2016.
  13. @Student_LVN, I think that as long as it is not multiple science courses simultaneously when you apply you are okay.
  14. Shann They're done by individual class. Go to My Class Schedule via web advisor and click on the link: Click here for required textbooks and prices. If that doesn't work I would just type MSMU bookstore Doheny and then the option for shopping for textbooks should appear on the website. There will be a series of drop-down menus that will ask you Term (Fall 2015), Program (Traditional, Acc BSN), Subject (Nurs), and then the Class and class section. Those should present you with the list. Nurs 41 and Nurs 42A textbook lists are not up yet so I wouldn't worry about these classes yet.
  15. Kiks, I also didn't buy the skills video (dvd) yet as she just added it to the list. Plus I wanted to see if we should all share that video since we'd all be doing the skills/lab together. If I had to do it over I would probably hold off because I think there are a few required books still missing from the lists.
  16. I purchased most of my books already (most used off of Amazon). List of textbooks should be available by clicking on course description. The only one I'm missing is the course reader/skills checklist. Which I should warn you guys to specifically ask for the Fall ABSN 2015 because the lady at the bookstore accidentally gave me the Summer 2015 one and course readers (though I would very loosely classify this as a course reader) are non-refundable.
  17. J.Cast, The 7th edition won't be released until July 29th.
  18. Has anybody heard anything from financial aid? I looked at Cashnet and they already have the estimated stuff but I have yet to actually see anything in the mail from them...
  19. I did American Heart Assocation for my BLS & First Aid. Haven't done American Red Cross. But I figured if you haven't done your BLS yet you could always take it simultaneously with your First Aid.
  20. It's a lot of reading. Books only costed me like 40$ (one I'm just renting from Amazon). Tuition was 1050$ (but that's nothing compared to the 4000$ at msmu) You have 9 modules, 10 case reviews that you have to respond in 300-450 words, and a 5-8 page essay. For the case reviews the teacher asks you a question and you have to respond to it within a week with 200-450 words.
  21. J.Cast, I was talking about the Taylor Upper division Bioethics class thats done online. It's one of the courses you can take prior to the program that MSMU accepts (or you can take it second semester of the ABSN program at MSMU). I'm taking it now to get it out of the way and I was just wondering if someone was taking it too because I had questions. Taylor University online- Phi 410 Bioethics- It is an online class you can sign up for it any time but you have to complete it before the start of the program. It can take anywhere between 6 weeks to 3 months and is self-paced.
  22. I had some questions regarding second submission of the case reviews and since the professor takes a few days to review them/check his email, I was wondering if someone could provide some insight or answer some of my questions.
  23. Is anyone else take the Taylor bioethics class?
  24. Nope. Just emails. I think that's how they're doing it now. I've gotten an email regarding the math remediation, housing, and general info to make sure I've submitted my final transcripts, orientation date, class start, etc. More info will be sent next week regarding all the stuff (i.e. BLS, vaccinations, etc.) by end of next week. But I think it's all by email :/
  25. Anyone know if we just show up on any of the days next week for remediation? I already sent her an email and they basically responded with the same email as the initial one.
