Advice needed, please!!!!!!
i learned most of my nursing skills from being a LPN so dont let that discourage you. i was a LPN for 7 years before i got my RN and the skill setting for LPN was much more knowledgable then being a RN. if you feel you would like to take a CM position then go for it especially if you learned the skills you needed from being a LPN. good luck

Humana Employees
i interviewed with humana yesterday for a complex cm position for work at home. how is this job? is it flexible and are you able to adjust your time and hours or do they monitor you being at the computer 8 hours a day? im in home health as a cm now and it is very flexible but 40 percent out seeing patients and 60 percent at home but i can chart at my own leisure. just curious about the micro managing of working at home... any insight on this?

How to break into case management nursing and utilization review....
the best way to break into case management is to become a RN for a home health agency. this will allow you to be a case manager of a determined amount of patients, after working there for a year you can obtain your ccm certification. my home health job paid for my certification, i am now interviewing with humana for a work at home job as a ccase manager. good luck with your search but i got started from home health.

Anyone work in HH as new grad and do just fine?
i have been a nurse for 15 yrs and started in home health 3 years ago as a case manager. i am by no means saying that you cannot succeed but I think you will be extremely overwhelmed. my work requires you to have 2 yrs nursing experience before they will even consider hiring you. the reason is as a home health nurse you are expected to work pretty much on your own. you have to admit, discharge, peer review, decide number of therapy visits, resumption of care and all documentation along with knowledge in education each patient on specific disease process, iv home therapy infusion, access mediports, understand medicare and medicaid knowledge, insurance payer sources and many other things that you are responsible for . your case load can average around 30 patients at a time. if you are not a well rounded, experienced, organized, knowledgable and multi tasking nurse this job will be difficult for you. i was told from the beginning of my nursing career by a very old military nurse lol she was stearn too. she told me to start my nursng out in a med surg hospital where i would get knowledge on just about every type of disease in nursing. i took her advice and it has helped my nursing over the years. just about every thing i know now i learned from med surg and while i was learning, i had help, mentors and advice as a new grad. i strongly believe you should do this also as it will help mold you to what you really want to do as a nurse. good luck to you

questions about CM from home for Humana
working as home health nurse is very flexible about 3 hours seeing patients and the rest at home charting, phone calls and documentation but it allows you to do your charting at a later time at night if you prefer. i am use to the flexibility there but can no longer work out in the field and was just wondering how flexible it is at home. what is the reason you are switching to home in december?

questions about CM from home for Humana
I am currently working as a home health cm. I interviewed today with humana for a work from home position as a CM. I am wondering if anyone has any input on this type of work from home job. My main curiosity is how flexible is it? my current position is very flexible, half in the field and half at home work but I would rather be at home all the time if it is still as flexible. anyone know if you are monitored and have to be online or at your desk for solid 8 hours? is there any way you finish your work before 8 hours ? any input would be great, I am new to this site and would appreciate any information.
