  1. The same thing happened to me. I took A & P in the summer and received a C+. I also took English that semester and got an A. So the following fall I took micro, intro to nursing & retook A&P. I got an A in intro and a B+ in micro & A&P. I'm starting the program in March of this year!
  2. It wasn't too bad, honestly. You just have to stay motivated & manage your time well.
  3. I took Intro to Nursing, Micro & re-took A&P all in one semester. I took English the summer prior.
  4. Anyone receive start date letters yet?
  5. I was #11 with a 3.517 & 86 HESI.
  6. Have any alternates received a call? I was offered a spot on this past Monday.
  7. I was ranked 174 last year (14th alternate) & received a call in January to start in March. Not sure how many they accepted beyond me.
  8. I applied last year & was the #14 alternate. They took 5 alternates at the orientation, so I was pretty much the #9 alternate up until this past January when they called & offered me a spot. I could've started in March, but had to decline my spot. I received my letter today and I'm ranked 171, the #11 alternate with a 3.517 GPA and 86 HESI score.
  9. I applied last year with a 3.517 GPA and 86 HESI. I ranked 174, so I was the 14th alternate. They called me in January & offered me a spot, but I had to decline. I'll be reapplying this year with the same scores.
  10. That's what some people think/say, but I honestly don't know. The ranking office said they use an automated system to rank, so it's all based on what the computer formulates & they say it's 50/50, but I really don't know.
  11. I'm not sure about 160, but 162 was 3.35 & 90 and the first 5 alternates were offered a spot in May while at alternate orientation.
  12. Here's a little encouragement for you guys: I applied last year with a 3.517 GPA and an 86 HESI. I was alternate #14 & received a call today to accept a spot to start this coming March! Due to certain circumstances, I had to turn down my spot, so I'll be reapply with the same GPA & HESI. I'm not discouraged because I know I did my best & that it is possible! I say all this to say, don't stress about it. I know it's easier said than done, but it's the best advice I can give. I honestly didn't expect them to call, so I'd already submitted another app for next admission cycle, but I didn't give up or stress about it. This process is long (getting an acceptance/alternate letter, going to orientation, awaiting a start date & for those who will be alternates, simply waiting on that phone call) so worrying the entire time doesn't help. If you need to retake a course to get a better GPA, retake it. If you need a higher HESI score, retake it (I did & end up getting the same score) & reapply, but DON'T stress it. Just do the best you can & when the time is right & if it's meant to be, you will obtain a spot in this program!
  13. Sailboatescape- I took my HESI on the 20th as well and didn't do as well as I'd planned. I too got an 86 (I blame the hour it took us to get started, lol), the exact same score I received when I took it last year. Anyway, I applied last year with a 3.5 gpa & 86 HESI and am currently #9 on the alternate list. I was #14, but 5 alternates were accepted when we went to our orientation back in May. I'm sure I probably won't receive a call before March so I'm applying again with my 3.5 & 86. Best of luck to you & everyone else on this board! :)
  14. Soreadyforthis: they originally only accepted 152 people, so if they went up to alternate #174, that means they did accept 22 alternates.
  15. In the past they have sometimes contacted alternates before orientation.
  16. 1. That is how it works. If someone from August drops, then everyone moves up a spot. As far as alternates go, if anyone drops from any start month, the alternate list moves. For instance, if two people drop, from any start month, then you're in. 2. I do believe you have the option to start later than when you're offered, but not earlier. So if you ask to start later, you can. As an alternate, I'm not sure if it's the same. But for the people that already have a spot in the program, they can start later if requested. 3. It all depends in the year. I think they took 10 last year and 20 they year before that (don't quote me, just what I've heard), so every year is different. If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much. 2nd alternate is a pretty good position to be in. Good luck!
  17. Exactly. I always knew that was the HESI composite score.
  18. I know what the formula is. Even after calculating it I'm still ranked lower than someone with a lower composite score. Which is why I say there must be something more to it than just this formula.
  19. And yours was 86.63 right?
  20. Krystal45- I called the secretary today because I was a little confused as well. They told me that a computer does everything and that there is no specific manual formula you can use to determine where you stand. With that said, I guess the formula we've all been using isn't exactly accurate.
