An easy way to remember Anatomy??
For my anatomy class i read each chapter aloud and recorded in 3-4 min intervals, then listened to each recording numerous times before moving on to the next. It's great to listen to while you drive, cook, clean, pretty much anywhere. I even did one head phone and cared for my kids while studying. I was one of 4 to pass with B- or above, so it must have worked!

Students attending (or attended) SMCC??
Lucky! I was also on the wait list for SMCC fall 2013, when i got called to go early, it was for spring of 2013. I live 5 miles from YCCC, so in order to not wait a year and a half extra, I am willing to commute. Also very exited! I have been a CNA since 2003, worked in various nursing homes across the state, but what I really want when RN is to work at a nearby hospital. I expect to meet wonderful people during clinical hours and make connections to get work after graduation. Good luck to you!

Moving to Bangor
I used to live in Bangor and the surrounding for most of my life, the pay is bad, there may be an affordable place to live, but expect drunk and drugged out neighbors. I have lived in many areas of Maine, and have to say, Bangor is one of the most scummy Towns, i have encountered. I worked at the mental hospital for two years, and have seen the worst. Since I moved to Southern Maine, to better my children's lives, Bangor has turned into a heaven for new drugs and users. In my opinion if Lewiston is the armpit of Maine then Bangor is the orifice.

Foot rub?
My husband works at a hospital and gives foot massages, he picks his people by how he knows them our if they genuinely needs it. If they are in the massage chair, he gloves up and tells them a nice anecdote of how he used to rub his mothers feet. Some may think he is creepy, but it is all in the delivery. The women who get the massages are grateful and appreciative and they don't think it is weird. From am objective standpoint some may find it offputting, but if you are genuine then i don't see a problem with it. I would check with admin. And ask permission. Blantely, if you get go, then go ahead, don't worry about the insecurities of some of you're other female coworkers.

Im curious and want to see absolute honesty
I have been a CNA since 2003, and am currently on the wait list for my clinical portion of my RN, my pre nursing classes are finished. I feel being a CNA first before becoming a nurse it's very important, I am a CNA because i know i can make a difference in the lives of those I care for, i am an asset to their care, i enrich their lives, and make them feel safe and comfortable. I will feel the same as a RN. I do want the financial stability, and i picked the field footer the job stability, but the main reason it's because I am made for this, I am able to properly care for others, with compassion and social and emotional intelligence.

How's the job market for RN's in and around Portland?
You can search state specific and specialty specific jobs online. It's a federal website. http://www.bls.gov ,bureau of labor statistics Be careful though of clinical hours you need to be a nurse in Maine, they are higher here than a lot if other places. I have seen RN degree from another country have to work as CNA and go back to school once moving here. Portland is a nice place for the most parts, but can have it's bad as much as any other place. You should visit before moving.

Anxiety and doubts at its peak . . . any advice?
The law of attraction... Put good things out there, good will come back. I personally don't believe you should seek medications, relying on chemical means to"fix what is wrong" is no way to live you're life. You have to believe in yourself, of you know you can do it then you can. If your friends are comparing you to others, it sounds like you need new friends. Write goals short and long term, attainable goals. First being; to know you can succeed and believe in yourself. "in one week I will be on the right track again, I can do this". It sounds simple but i climbed up from the dregs with this philosophy. It just took a reminder from a great friend. Record your lessons, and listen to them over and over in short increments. You can also record yourself saying affirmation statements. Believe you are and will be an asset to the lives of the people you will be caring for. Believe in your greatness.
