I graduate this September 22 and it's taken me two years and one session to finish. I transferred almost all prerequisites except History and Ethics, so I took those with Chamberlain. I think this saved a huge amount of money as the classes were a lot cheaper at Georgia Highlands.

I think the trifecta is Patho, Health Assessment, and Fundamentals. I wasn't scheduled that thankfully. And I'm not sure what classes you will be scheduled, it really depends on what your advisor recommends but I don't think Health Assess, Funds, and Pharm is a good idea. Pharm is a heavy class to add to those two. The class that had the high drop rate that I witnessed was Health Assess I but maybe it's not always like that? Maybe it was just that handful of students? I can't speak for why they dropped, I just know towards the last two weeks we only had 11 students left.

I'm not sure why because that was the first session so far I saw that many drop. Before that I would see one or two but maybe they weren't applying themselves fully for exams? Who knows? Nursing school will be difficult and challenging and perhaps some go in thinking Chamberlain "accepts everyone" but you need to work hard to stay in and have those critical thinking skills as a nurse to be successful.

Our cutoff is 76% and they don't round up either. They definitely enforce it because we had almost half of our Health Assessments I class drop out. Also the 76% applies to your exam average as well as your overall class average, so you have to make sure all 4 of your exam averages are above 76%. You do get two attempts though but I believe that is for the whole length of your program. A drop before an actual fail is considered as an attempt if you're on the brink of not passing I think. You may want to clarify with your advisor but I think I recall my professor last session saying that when half the class disappeared. Other cut offs could be some major problem that could happen at clinicals like getting caught sleeping or a dangerous drug error. There are dosage calculation exams that are held during the first couple of weeks beginning in Fundamentals. You get up to 3 attempts to pass, and I honestly can't recall the percentage required to pass. They give you a practice exam which is very similar to the real exam (just different numbers) that you can practice unlimited times to get prepared. I just did that over and over and made a 100% on the real exam, first attempt. They also have a center for academic success (CAS) that is an amazing resource. They will help you with any class you're struggling with. I swear I don't work for them lol as much as it might sound I'm praising the school but they really do offer a ton of resources (tutors, open lab) to help students succeed. Oh, and yes you have check offs due all the time but open lab hours are available Mon thru Fri and they have lab specialists there to help practice with you critiquing you on what to improve so you can pass check offs.

If you think you may find it challenging to take online courses then I would just stick to campus ones. Advisors even recommend taking classes on campus but I prefer online when I can due to the fact that I'm comfortable in an online environment. Some of my classmates hate online though. I think it totally depends on what you can handle. Online classes require for you to pay close attention to deadlines, participate in "class" discussions, read available notes and textbook, and take the online timed exams. They say no open book or notes but I'm sure they're are people who break that rule. Lol Pharmacology is one you'd probably want to take on campus, as well as Pathophysiology. I took Patho online the same time with Health & Wellness and I'll have to admit it was a little challenging but doable. I am scheduled to take online Pharmocology next session but I feel for myself I will be fine because I'm an LPN and am already familiar with a lot of medicines. However, A LOT of my classmates are taking this on campus (also the campus professor is super sweet and great at helping people understand) the online professor is someone different but I still think I'll be okay.

You can't choose your order or what classes you'd like to take together. I wish you could or I'd have myself graduating way earlier. Lol Your advisor sets it up for you during your initial sit down meeting with him or her. You may have a slight say so with certain classes but not too much. They will map out your whole schedule for the next two or so years. Certain classes have to be taken before others before you qualify to take the next. I do do like how you get options of choosing different times. For example for my January/March session I registered for two weeks ago, I was able to pick Adult Health I times for class ranging from Mon/Wed 7:30 am - 10:30 am, 11:30 am - 2 pm, or 1 pm - 4 pm. It's different with every class, though. Some but not all nursing classes are available online, like Pharmacology or Nutrition. Clinicals however are a set day and you have no control over where, what time, or location. So I guess to answer your question you have some flexibility on classes but only on picking the available class times that they offer but with clinicals, absolutely no flexibility.

My advisor stated all the core classes were available online and some of the nursing classes during my first 3 semesters could be online as well (except the labs, they're on campus). Transition to Nursing is only on campus, that should be your very first class. Once, you hit your 4th semester, almost all nursing classes are campus based and include a lab and clinical.

On the math portion, about 80% of my questions were fractions and ratios (Ex. 13/32) They allow you to use a calculator so it's not hard, just time consuming.

It's not that bad. I'm currently PRN for a detention facility. My shift consists of a pill pass, intake screenings for the new arrestees, and handling any codes that may happen. There are always officers with me when I'm dealing with the inmates. It's easy work for a decent amount of money. Our facility starts at $19/hr. I'm in Georgia.

I am going to the Atlanta campus.

I took my HESI last week. That thing took forever! I start May 2nd, and it can't get here soon enough. I'm just ready to get this over with!
