  1. Hi y'all, I just got hired as an RN Intern on an oncology floor too! I graduated in April and passed my NCLEX in July. I feel so lucky to have this job. I'm definitely nervous about the challenging environment but also really excited for the amazing opportunity. My practicum preceptor was an oncology nurse for 18 years, and I consider her the most well-rounded nurse I know. I'm hoping to really develop a strong set of nursing skills while also learning how to handle the emotions that my patients are experiencing. Any advice would be appreciated. Congrats to us! :)
  2. I was in the same boat you're in until a couple of weeks ago. I graduated from The University of Michigan with my BSN and moved back to Atlanta in May. After I had two interviews that didn't work out, I was about to lose hope when I was able to get in touch with a manager who just happened to have two new grad positions open up. I got the job because I was recommended by staff members and proactive enough to e-mail her and interview with her at the right time. If you know ANYONE working in hospitals, see if they can pass along a manager's name and e-mail address to you! I can't believe I have a job, I thought I was going to be searching for a looooong time. Good luck!
  3. Nothing from them to me either. I just find it hard to believe that out of the seven of us here, no one got an interview or email stating otherwise? When I applied for their spring 2012 residency I got an email that my application had been forwarded to the manager before they realized I wouldn't take my boards in time to start (oops). Did anyone email the HR contact who reached out to you about submitting your attachments through them?
  4. You can apply to any Staff RN position (not senior staff RN). I asked HR if I should write my cover letter to the unit or the new grad program and she said either...
  5. I haven't heard anything either! I wonder what's going on...
  6. I would do at least 50 questions a day up until the day before your exam. Good luck!
  7. I found that Kaplan overly prepared me for the questions that appeared on the NCLEX. My piece of advice would also be to not focus on your scores but take the time to review all questions - right and wrong. I also did at least 50 questions a day until the day before my test and found the routine to be very helpful - consistency is key.
  8. Have you heard don't delegate what you can EAT - evaluate, assess, teach (anything that specifically requires nursing judgment and knowledge). For example, you wouldn't send an LPN or nurse aide to see a pt who was about to be discharged - this pt requires teaching. The LPN/aide should get pts who are stable with expected outcomes. Have you come across the awesome study guide someone posted here? Literally everyone who I graduated with used it to study and passed. I'll try to find the link for you and post it here
