  1. I read your message about US/Canada travel nursing. I'm not able to respond in a PM since I haven't met the criteria for messaging. PM me your e-mail if you'd like.
  2. Yes, I've submitted the application and since I was originally registered in Ontario I'm hoping this process won't take too long.
  3. I'm returning to Ontario. Ideally Oakville/Burlington/Hamilton area. I'm a Med/Surg RN.

Educated in Canada with 20 years work experience in the US. Working on coming home. I don't know anybody in the healthcare field in Canada and I'm wondering how it all works. Are all hospitals union? If not, how does one know which one is and which one isn't. Will I be able to get full time work? Most importantly what's the pay like? Where's the best place to look for work in a hospital? Hospital website? I'm very excited about coming home but yet very nervous about the differences. Just need some help getting an idea what it's going to be like. Appreciate any comments.

I'm headed to Syracuse for an assignment. After looking online at the reviews of the accommodation I'm now super nervous. Multiple bad reviews. Anybody know where to live in Syracuse with a commute to Upstate Medical. Any experiences with apt communities would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I'm on my 2nd pair of Birki's. Changed the insert once or twice and that first pair lasted me 10 years. It was my first purchase off QVC. :)

I'm currently looking into getting my Hawaii license. I'm curious to know how it's going for you. Did you get there?
  8. Very helpful, thanks!!!
  9. Hi Guys/Gals Anybody ever do assignments in Buffalo or surrounding area? If so I'd be very interested in hearing your hospital and company experiences. Look forward to reading your responses and being employed some time in the near future. :)))
  10. Looks like everybody covered your issue well. I've felt your pain. I think the most important thing to have to remember is how YOU and your patients feel about the care you have given them over the past 12hrs. If all is cool than you need to also remember that nursing is a 24hr - 7 day/wk - 365 days/year profession. If you forgot to change the IV tubing and somebody is getting there panties in a wad over it my god be the bigger person. You have to feel good about what you've done over the past 12hrs and some days that's not possible just the nature of the beast but don't let that petty crap eat away at you. If there's one thing that nursing has done for me it has given me leather skin to that stuff. Now if your neglecting a patient in any way shape or form then this calls for another thread. Bedside nursing is not for everybody that's for sure. You also need to handle the stress in a healthy way. That's if you want to survive this crazy world of nursing. Good luck!!!!
  11. I too am a Canadian trained RN and have travelled in many states including AZ and CA. I'm interested in hearing how you obtained your AZ and Minnesota licenses. My situation is a little different in that I'm now a dual citizen and have residence in the US so I've had a SSN for many years. Going way back to when I first arrived and worked in the US I believe if my memory serves me correctly that all that was required was a letter from your employer stating they have hired you. RN's are considered part of the "free trade agreement" with the US. I would suggest just as you are thinking - applying to a hospital first and work with them for a year or so. Get the SSN then hook up with a travel company. American Mobile is a good company to be with btw. You need to get acclimated to the way things are done in health care in the US, it's quite a different culture. As a traveler CA actually was one of the easiest and quickest licenses I've ever gotten. Word of advice don't ever apply to NY state, that's what I'm up against at the moment. Oh yeah become familiar with the CGFNS if you plan on any future moves to stay or change your status and after you do that beef up your savings account it's crazy.
