New RN, 3 weeks into orientation, total screw up.
I am a new nurse and also on orientation. My preceptor is great and he gives positive as well as negative feedback (constructive criticism lol). I often feel like I'm running around like a chicken without my head and asking basic questions just to double-check myself. I too lack confidence. I know with experience this will change (I can't wait to feel experienced lol). Hang in there - we will get through it!! You seem to have good critical thinking skills - you just aren't confident in them. I can relate! We both need to trust our instincts more. Sounds like you will be an awesome nurse!!

ADN's being pushed out
I am a recent grad from an ADN program. I found it extremely difficult to find a job because everyone wanted BSN or at least persuing a BSN. I had to start a BSN program online just to be considered for a position. Thankfully, I was able to get a position in the meantime but that was mostly because I knew someone. It's terribly unfair. And our school sent us to an NCLEX review course and in the course were a lot of BSN students who would be graduating the following semester and our school knew more of the answers than the BSN students. I feel, personally, we are better prepared. So far, the BSN classes are a lot of things that are nice to know, but not entirely necessary to make me a better nurse - experience and watching older nurses who are good examples will make me the nurse I'd like to someday be.

Do I need 2 stethoscopes?
I had the littmann lightweight II se for nursing school and it was not too expensive (maybe $50-60) and it worked really well. Actually - just saw it on amazon for around 45. I would spend the money - if you can't hear properly - it's not worth having a cheap steth & the ones from isolation - you can't hear anything - hate them!! Recently got a new one as a present for graduation. Love littmann!!

Is this badge holder too morose?
I like it - but i like things like that - idk if the patients will appreciate it though.
