CARDIO & EKG NURSE
I am the kind of nurse that wants to have knowledge in everything that is going to allow me to be a great nurse. I only have my nursing lic at this time. Im registering for a EKG course, then plan to take the ACLS certification. Does anyone have any input on how to study for this course and have any advice when it comes to working in an environment where the pt is on a EKG? Any scary experiences that might help me be more careful? Also is the pay better when you are EKG certified? All input is much appreciated! Thanks ya'll!

Fired for a medication error
My worst fear as a new nurse is passing a med and not being told in report that this patient takes their med crushed and the patient aspirates. Or the patient takes their pill with a thickener and you forget! I hope that I can over come all these fears as a new nurse and work with full confidence .

New Grad LVN in home care
Hi Su742!. I have a friend a new RN grad. She is orientating with an other RN nurse at the patient's house. That nurse us teaching and telling her all that she needs to know about this patient. I heard that you can ask your Home Health co. if you can show up and work along side or observe an other nurse at a home health client's house so that you can learn more about your future patient. Good luck. Do you have any other lic besides your nursing lic? I plan on getting ACLS certified soon this will help me feel a little more secure about emergency situations.

What job is suitable for a first job for a LVN?
Thanks for all your comments. I guess since I am new, I would like to start off slow. I am looking into working at clinics. I still want to attend online classes for wound certification, ecg certification to name a few. I just found it ridiculous to work at a facility with 60 plus patients as a new nurse. Something is bound to go wrong somewhere and I don't want to loose my lic so early in the game. I am also looking to get liability insurance. Does anyone have any suggestions for liability insurance in Texas? I am going to try applying Home Health once I get liability insurance. Anything I should know about home health?

What job is suitable for a first job for a LVN?
what do you recommend as a first job for a LVN? Nursing homes is not the route that I want to go but it seems no Hospitals will hire unless a nurse has several years of experience. HELP. As of now I only have a lvn lic but plan on getting ACLS certified. I did orientate at a nursing home but quit during orientation. I they lied and told me I would be given 30 patients but instead they were orientating me to work 2 halls meaning 60 plus patients. They didn't even orientate me to nursing policies and procedures as to what the facility allows their nurses to do for the patients incase of emergencies. Any suggestions.
