  1. Congrats! Me, too! Graduated 3 weeks ago, and took NCLEX yesterday! Had 85 questions, and will get results tomorrow online!!!
  2. You already have a degree...you could go either way. Check into the programs available to you, and choose one that works for you.
  3. Congrats! I took my NCLEX yesterday morning...85 questions, also. I will get results tomorrow! I felt good when I left, but am now letting anxiety get the best of me!!!
  4. Nah...don't be offended. I had a young doc tell me once that he was considering getting his BSN in addition to his MD! Take it as a compliment and go on.
  5. I'm laughing...I totally understand! I'm 3rd semester, saw AMS in the chart, and typed up the pathophysiology for Acute Mountain Sickness. Everyone got a hoot out of it though. (AMS is Altered Mental Status, or Acute Mountain Sickness). Most of the time...you can safely assume that AMS is Altered Mental Status...especially in Florida! lol
  6. It sounds like you are getting really good grades. I am at UNF now, and I will tell you honestly...UNF is NOT all that great. They bombard you with paperwork, and you graduate with less technical skills than your FCCJ counterparts. We spend hours on Ethics, research, and on "self-teaching" projects, and most of us have yet to hang an IV, or cath a patient. Yes, we can prepare an APA paper with the "best of them", and we can tell you the difference between quantitative and qualitative research, and we can quote every ethical theory ever proposed. However...in the real world, and on the floor, these are not skills that are much appreciated by the patients. It's great that you want a BSN. Just don't expect UNF to make you a great nurse. Get your ADN, and do an RN-BSN program at the University of Florida. Yes, your employer will most likely have a program that will carry some (if not most) of the cost. And, as a BSN, you will NOT make more money than your ADN sisters/brothers....at least not on the floor. Don't kill yourself to get into UNF, because it isn't that great of a program. FCCJ has a great program, and you'll graduate with better technical skills. If I'd known then what I know now, I'd have gone somewhere else.
  7. I'm a BSN student, and I was attempting to do an assessment/history plus get vitals on my pt., when the housekeeping lady tried to make me leave the room. She said she was busy, and didn't have time for me to be in the room "visiting" with my pt.!!! I did NOT leave the room, nor did I respond to her. I just looked at her and continued what I was doing.
  8. University of North Florida, BSN May 2007!!
  9. Wow...we must have had similar teachers. My physiology professor gave us multiple scenarios until we had it drummed into our heads.
  10. I was just accepted into the BSN program at UNF. The interview was done in a small group setting, and it was somewhat informal and relaxed.
