  1. Thanks everyone! I'm going to buy Merenstein's book. My orientation doesn't include lectures so it's up to me to ask questions at work and then go home and read.
  2. Hello! I'm a new grad NICU RN and am trying to decide between 2 textbooks. Does anyone have the "Handbook of Neonatal Intensive Care" by Merenstein and Gardner, or "Core Curriculum for Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing" by Verklan and Walding? If so, which one do you have and what are the pros/cons? They both have great reviews on Amazon and I'm struggling to make a decision. Thanks in advance! :)
  3. I wish I could give you some good advice but I'm in a similar situation. Received a verbal offer and a month later I still don't have the official offer letter. I've just received an offer from another hospital with higher pay, but it's not my 1st choice unit. Have you considered contacting the manager to let her know you are concerned about whether not you still have the job since you haven't received anything official? Let her know you really want the job, but you have an official offer letter in hand from another hospital, have to respond by X date, and will only deny it if you have an official letter from them. That's the advice I've been given for my situation. Good luck!
  4. Thanks! I graduated at the beginning of this month. I'm not sure if you have to already have graduated to be offered a job, but I know you don't have to be an RN yet. I applied before I graduated but my interview was after I graduated. My job offer is contingent upon taking and passing NCLEX before the program begins. That's great that you are wanting to apply before you graduate. The new grad job market can be daunting and frustrating, but I think it's a great idea to try and get ahead by applying early. Maybe you should email Piedmont's HR, tell them you want to apply in October, will graduate in December, and ask if you meet candidate requirements? I think they have an email address listed on their website's RN Residency Program page. I hope this helps. Good luck!
  5. At my interview I was told I would hear back from them in 2 weeks. However, they called me less than a week later to offer me a position in the CCU! :yeah:I know they are still interviewing though.
  6. Has anyone interviewed yet? Did they ask a lot of clinical questions? My critical care interview is coming up and I'm getting nervous!
  7. Has anybody heard what the interview questions are like? I'm nervous about potential clinical questions. I have an interview coming up for the critical care program.
  8. You apply to the RN Residency Program and within the application you rank 3 areas of the program you are interested in.
  9. I just got a call from Piedmont saying the nurse managers would like to interview me for the RN Residency Program. There's still hope! I guess the process is taking longer than they thought it would.
  10. Will do! Let me know if you hear anything too. Good luck!
  11. Mine says the same :/ I know 4 other people who have applied and they haven't heard anything either. Interviews were supposed to be from July 30-August 10th so I'm kind of just assuming I wasn't selected. Graduating in August is a tough time for finding jobs...
  12. Thanks for the advice everyone! I appreciate it!
