  1. Oh those breaks.....what a dilemna! Breaks are something you TAKE, not something you GET. Here is another way to look at the importance of taking breaks: Most health care facilities allow one 30 minute break, and two 15-minute breaks per 8 hour shift. Usually, only the 30-minute break is unpaid. If you don't take these breaks, you are giving your employer one hour of free labor per day. For the average full-time nurse, that is 5 hours per week, multiply that by 52 weeks in the year and that is 260 hours per year!!! 260 hours you are working for nothing!!!! That's between 6 and 7 weeks of full-time work! Please thank your employer for the wonderful two weeks vacation you get every year.... Self care is not selfish.
  2. There are days that really get under my skin especially when pts or pt's families make comments like "I'm paying more to stay here then I do at the Four Seasons. I had better get good service." WTF??? Sorry....I got a bit side-tracked. Good Luck with those "types" of people. My reply to that would be (with a smirk on my face) "but did you ever try to get a heparin drip from room service?" That shuts 'em up like right now. :rotfl: :rotfl:
  3. lcx could mean left circumflex (one of the coronary arteries) otherwise I concur with the other abbreviations.
  4. Being tired is psychological. If you worry about getting sleep and not having enough sleep, then you will be tired all the time. Learn the art of the power nap. 30 minutes and I'm good to go if I have stuff to do during the day (or want to attend church service at 11am on Sunday). I like nights because my husband can get the kids off to school and I am here to be with them when they get home. No more day care bills!!!
