  1. I’ll be coming up on two years in GI nursing and love my little niche speciality family! Not planning on going back to school, so figured I could take the certification exam. Any advice on what books/resources to utilize? I have plenty of time before I plan to take my exam (May 2020), but want to start compiling a list of flashcards/books and Google is leaving me overwhelmed. Any general advice on passing the exam the first time? For some background - I am a RN but I do a LOT of teching (including on bronchs, ERCPs, EBUSs), though I’m very proficient in all areas of our self-contained unit.
  2. You're so observant! I love your support - it truly is a hallmark of a wonderful coworker. I'm sure you also noted the rehab facility experience I have as a CNA and my experience in the medical-surgical world of the hospital as one also. We need more genuinely kind and sincere people like you in graduating from RN programs - you really know what you're doing! I wish you could have sat my boards for me. :)
  3. By the way, you know you shouldn't call yourself a nurse when you're not licensed as an RN or LPN, right? You're misrepresenting yourself.
  4. I basically take off my work clothes in the doorway, separate them from other attire in the wash, and dry them on the sanitize function on my dryer. I want to say it's 130º that gets about all of the ickies off. Boyfriend and I recently invested in an amazing washer/dryer combo by Samsung and I'm loving all the functions of them. Good luck, stay clean!
  5. I really don't like the idea of visible tattoos. I've got plenty that I can hide during interviews and work, but none visible - actually, I've got a white tattoo of an ampersand (&) on my left wrist. NO ONE notices that since it's white and I'm pale. If you're going to get a "visible" tattoo, get it small and in white. You can always go over it in darker ink later once you've secured a job. Never make the job hunt harder on yourself than it needs to be. :)
