  1. Its been at least 8 years since Ive done home care. I liked it, but not loved it. It kinda isolated me from the real world. And less active. But I did do it for a year or so and got back in a hospital. I felt more like a maid than a cna doing home care. To each their own.
  2. I had a phone interview a few months ago for a nursing home. I applied online an thought it was for a hospital :uhoh21:. It was a good, comfortable interview. I had all my paperwork nearby...(resume, behavorial questions, references...etc). She mainly asked me my work history and if I had a current cpr card, and if I was still interested. I said yes at first. Then I found out it was a nursing home, an hour away from me. Then I called her the next day, to cancel it. Now I work at a hospital nearby :w00t:. Good luck with the interview.
  3. I know how you feel. I stuttered a few times during my first interview. And I thought...eeeekkkk, I just ruined it. And they called me a few days later, and offered me the job. Just think, if they called you in after the 1st interview, thats a good sign
  4. I will be getting one of these by the end of next week. Some people said it hurts and have bad reactions. I had tetorifice shots before in the past (no problem). Just like to hear others experience in having tdap shots.
  5. Hope you get it, the waiting is that hard part
  6. Landing a hospital job is tough, even if you do have exp. I also live in florida and job hunting is a job here. Networking really helps out and enrolling in a class like phlebotomy is a plus too. Each hospital has their own protocol. I just got hired at a local hospital as a pca (patient care assistant). It took awhile to get that 1st phone call. Keep applying, applying and applying. Even if you get rejected online. It will happen
  7. I got my hospital job.....just by keep applying and contacts do help. Sure ive been rejected alot, by several hospitals. But that just made me want to apply more. And I handed in a resume and cover letter when I had my interview. I just got hired the other day as a PCA. :yelclap:
  8. Patient Care Assistant :)
  9. She called me yesterday and they would like for me to join their team. Im so glad, I thought I was going to wait another week for that phone call:yeah:Ive been out of work for almost 6 months, im just excited. It took me over a period of 4 months and 9 applications and applying different positions at the hospital to get in. In the long run, its worth it .
  10. Update......but I want to thank everyone for their comments. I just came back from my 1st interview at the hospital. It went by very well. I didnt interview with the HR lady, she just directed me to the floor to the nurse manager to whom I would be working with. She didnt ask any behavorial questions, (which I was prepared for) and mostly talked how what the floor was about the way the pca's work on the floor. And after she took me on a tour of the floor and introduced me to some employees...... This is the job I wanted, it took over at least 6 weeks for them to contact me. I hope this is a good sign :yelclap:. Then she will let me know by next week to interview again . And the waiting begins, lol
  11. I keep checking this and wondered if they forgot about it. The job I applied for is no longer on there. I haven't even recieved a phone call. I applied for others as well, at different hospitals. I know it takes awhile, but 4 weeks....gosh. And those auto-response emails, says not to call HR. Im just curious, what the longest time span anyone has waited for that first interview? Ive been a pca in a hospital before, its been a few years. I hope that doesn't hinder it.
