  1. Unless you have someone who could help you get a job, I would wait... All applications ask for your license number.
  2. So here I am I graduated in March of this year and I passed my NCLEX PN last month... I still can't seem to find employment. All I keep hearing is that I need one year of experience and I'm wondering where am I supposed to get the experience from if no one wants to hire me. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated...
  3. Nursing isn't only about wiping butts... You may have to do a lot of that in the beginning but Nurses do WAY more than just wipe butts
  4. Stay positive! U will do fine! Day before exam don't study, relax your brain!!
  5. That's true too. Guess it really does depend on who you know rather than what you know
  6. Have you tried using the Saunders book? Do tons of questions daily and you will gain the test taking strategies you need from reading the rationales.
  7. Before I started the LPN program a few of my family members doubted me...... Didn't think I could make it, and it gave me more motivation to graduate, pass my boards and get a job... Use the negative energy as a motivator to prove her wrong...
  8. Congrats on getting the job! I'm sure as long as your background clears out you're hired. They had me flll out all the new hire paperwork today at the home health agency. And afterwards told me to go get the background check done. Get the experience you can while working at the jail and when you hit 6 months at least try applying to other places. Good luck :)
  9. Hey guys! Good news, I passed my boards May 22nd 2012 and I was offered a job today at a Home Health Agency $17/hr It seems as though hospitals, nursing homes and clinics only want to hire LPNs with at least one year of experience, not including clinical experience. Did anyone else run into this problem? Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for a job especially these days...
  10. Heyy... I did only Saunders 3rd edition. It was the old one but it was still effective for me. I started out with a few books EXAM CRAM and Saunders. I decided to stick to one source throughout the entire time of studying and it helped a lot!
  11. I went to school for CNA. Completed the course, didn't bother to get the certification. Went straight for LPN. I feel your pain.
  12. 100 a day is good. 200 may be too much considering you have to read all of the rationales.
  13. Thank you for this post! I am starting the LPN - RN bridge soon! I'm excited!
  14. I'm brand new to this site but I wanted to share my story of what I did to pass the NCLEX. As soon as I got my ATT (about a month after graduating) I gave myself 4 weeks. First, I took an index card and used a permanent marker to write down all of my lab values, I then taped the card to the wall next to my bed. That way, every morning and every night I would be able to look at my lab values. I also wrote down my lab values and kept them in my wallet. First week - Briefly read through my weak areas. Which happened to be PEDS, Endocrine & GI. I used Saunders to read through the chapters and do the questions. Second to Forth Week - Did 50 to 100 questions per day using the Saunders CD Study Mode and Exam Mode. Read ALL of the rationales, all of them! Write down notes of things you want to remember as you do questions. Day before the Test - Do nothing, let your brain relax! Get a good nights rest. If anything look at lab values. Nothing more. Day of the Test - look at the various notes you took as you did questions. Stay positive. Breathe. Take a break if you need to! I passed my NCLEX-PN at 85 questions. I used the Pearson VUE trick and it worked :) just got my license in the mail last week! Good luck everyone!
