Anyone know about the PBDS test?
Hi everyone...what a great site for travel information. I just wish I had read it sooner. I am getting ready to leave for Homestead, FL for a 26 week travel assignment. The pay is good and I get a private apartment. I am very excited to be going. But I have a question regarding the Performance Based Development System Testing. Has anyone here had to take this test and what is it all about?...I'm starting to stress a little because my recruiter told me you can't really study for it and you have to pass it or loss the assignment. Any info you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :uhoh21:

MRSA in the NICU.....question for you
Currently in our NICU we swab every baby on Mondays. The staff are swabbed about one time a month. If a baby is pos. then we wash them with hibiclens baths every other bath for three baths and use the bactroban in their nares for five days twice a day. We also isolate them for contact isolation and wear gowns and gloves. Very few of our babies get septic from it and I believe some of it is overkill. MRSA is so prevalent in the communities now it's something that will never be rid of. We do go through spurts of MRSA. Sometimes we have none for months and then all of a sudden we have a huge outbreak with 10-12 babies. For awhile the nurses felt like we were being blamed for the outbreaks. Seems every time there is one they come down hard on us for universal precautions and hand washing which we all do all the time.

St. Louis Community College
The community colleges have an excellent nursing program. Both my mother and I graduated from St. Charles County Community College. The clinicals we had were at St. Lukes Hospital and St. Josephs in St. Charles. They were both very good and the nurses there were very nice to us. Best of luck to you in school.

Funny things you have said but wish you didn't
A few summers ago I took my neighbors 6 y/o little boy swimming at my aunts. My aunt and I were floating around the pool when he asked my aunt "How do you float like that?" My aunt responded because she was fat. Later that night I was at my neighbors house for dinner when this sweet little boy goes to his mother and says "You know mom, milk is good for your bones, meat is good for your muscles and fat helps you float." I thought I was going to die laughing and could barely explain to his mother where he got the fat helps you float part. :chuckle
