  1. Hi, I have been calling different facilities looking for Peds and OB/GYN preceptors with no luck. Do anyone have any pointers on how to get a preceptor to say "yes"? I am very discouraged and doubting myself. I wish these schools would assign preceptors to us.
  2. No, I have not considered private care. I would not feel comfortable going to patients' houses. There are jobs are for nurses with 1+ years of experience, not New Grads.
  3. I moved to Colorado Springs because of my husband's new job assignment. I didn't know most RN jobs here require New Grads to have a Bachelor's Degree. I only have an Associate's degree. I have went on numerous job interviews only to get turned down because of my lack of experience or "I have the experience needed but no positions available". I apply for jobs in a clinical setting in the city and an hour away. It is getting frustrating. I feel like I should just concentrate on school, get my MSN, and then search. I am a new grad with BLS, ACLS, and enrolled in RN to MSN school. I wish I would have research Colorado before moving here.
  4. I forgot to tell everyone to pray everyday, before getting out the car at nclex place, sitting in the nclex waiting room, before starting exam, and after the exam. Prayer changes things. "i can do all things through christ who strengthens me".
  5. I passed my test.. I want to thank you all for your help!!
  6. RNN7, it will be easier to visualize yourself doing each step because my NCLEX questions did not include every step. One question usually have about 10 steps and it only had 4 steps listed. The Kaplan and Alternate question helped with those
  7. I only have a paper copy of the 97 page study guide. If you google 97 page nclex study guide, the link to the youtube video will come up on how to purchase it.
  8. RNN7, I had a couple of arrange in the right order questions on two of my exams. I had a mixture of SATA and pictures.
  9. I approached the SATA as a true or false. If one thing is wrong, I immediately throw the answer out. The study material listed above helps a lot with SATA. A lot of those questions are given in the material. I used the Kaplan strategy on a couple of questions. I looked for the most unstable, safety, and ABCs. The 97 page study guide has some Kaplan stuff on it and more. It is worth it though. I felt content when I took the exam this time.
  10. This is what I used. If you look on my latest post, I attached the 35 page study guide to it. Good Luck. 1.) The Kaplan On demand course ( I listened to the lectures, qbank, tests 1-7, pretest & post test, alternate item questions, and the session videos) 2.) LaCharity Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination, 3e (I didn't do the case study...only the questions) 3.) 35 page study guide 4.) 97 page study guide 5.)Strategies for Alternate Item Formats on the NCLEX-RN® Exam by Linda Anne Silvestri
  11. I have really bad test anxiety too. I just passed my NCLEX RN exam on Thursday. I posted the 35 page study on my recent post if you want to download it. Here is a list of items I used to study. If you pm me, I can show you a way to download study items for free except the 97 page study guide which cost $50. 1.) The Kaplan On demand course ( I listened to the lectures, qbank, tests 1-7, pretest & post test, alternate item questions, and the session videos) 2.) LaCharity Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination, 3e (I didn't do the case study...only the questions) 3.) 35 page study guide (which I attached and is floating around online) 4.) 97 page study guide 5.)Strategies for Alternate Item Formats on the NCLEX-RN® Exam by Linda Anne Silvestri
  12. I finally passed my NCLEX RN exam. I was all over the place studying book after book when all I needed was the books and study guides below. If you are like me, I have a short attention span, my mind wonders, and really bad test anxiety. The study materials I used are: 1.) The Kaplan On demand course ( I listened to the lectures, qbank, tests 1-7, pretest & post test, alternate item questions, and the session videos) 2.) LaCharity Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination, 3e (I didn't do the case study...only the questions) 3.) 35 page study guide (which I attached and is floating around online) 4.) 97 page study guide 5.)Strategies for Alternate Item Formats on the NCLEX-RN® Exam by Linda Anne Silvestri **I was horrible with SATA questions. These items helped me a lot. My exam stopped at 75 questions and I passed. This was my third time taking it. The first time my exam stopped at 75 questions and I failed. The second time it stopped at 169 questions because I ran out of time. ** I bought a calendar and wrote down a daily study schedule all the way up to my test day. I would recommend 30 days to complete this, but if you are easily distracted like me it will take 45 days.
  13. Thanks Loo17, I will continue to study the book then. Thanks for the input.
  14. Yes Jack4nursing you are correct. I have been trying to look up reviews for this book and have not found many.
  15. The first thing that came to mind when looking at the first question was a LPN can not hang blood. Thanks. I have been studying LaCharity and Kaplan for a while now. I decided to try something else.
  16. Have anyone used this book to study for the Nclex exam? I am kind of confused on some of the answers in this book and think it is wrong. Ex: Which client would be appropriate for the RN to delegate to the LVN/LPN? 1. A client who needs IV antibiotics and a central line dressing change. 2. A client in liver failure who needs a blood transfusion. 3. A client who is postop and needs IV pain medication. 4. A client with GI bleeding who needs procedural sedation for a CT scan. THE BOOK ANSWER IS: 2 Ex: A client dies in the hospital. The driver's license indicates that the client wanted to be an organ donor. The family is refusing organ donation. What is the correct action by an RN? 1. Discuss with the family the legality of the driver's license indicating organ donation. 2. Respect the family's wishes. 3. Seek legal advice to carry out client's wishes. 4. Activate the donor team to go forward with the organ donation process. THE BOOK ANSWER IS: 2
  17. Hmahdoui, I accepted my $200 payment. At first, it kept saying my test was on hold on the night of the test. Then, a day later it processed my payment. FunnyNurse10, okay I will do.
  18. I did the credit card trick and it stated that I failed. So, I am going to go through my couple of days of depression right now.
  19. It says that my test is on "hold". I don't know what that means.
  20. I took my test today. I don't know what my results are. One thing I know is that I made it passed 75 questions. I cried before, during, and after the exam. I kept saying, "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me". My first question was a SATA. I had 5 cardiac strips, 3 med calculations, three pictures, delegations, and random hard ones. I need to do something to take my mind off of this test because I am about to run out of tears.
  21. My first question was a SATA. I have heard different rumors about the test gets harder as you go on. I don't know what to think anymore... I am stressed and tired.
  22. Okay, I will. Before I saw your message, I was thinking about buying NCSBN again and studying the questions. tomorrow.
  23. Thanks everyone for the very helpful tips. I woke up with puffy eyes and another string of grey hair in my head. Sharpeimom, I turned on Handel's Water Music and fell asleep to the music. It was quite soothing. Today, I studied again from 11 am until 10:15pm. Now, I am about to put on another movie to help with anxiety and crying.
  24. The movie is over and the tears are coming down. I guess I will start the music therapy and get a massage in the morning. Thank you everyone for the advice.
