I came to AR for a change of scenery. I have a lot of family here too. You actually get four seasons here. What about you, why are you coming to Arkansas? I don't know if or how the admissions process will change. There isn't any info on the website about the upcoming BSN program. Maybe you could call the department of nursing and get some info. http://ualr.edu/nursing/ Click on Traditional RN Program.

Hi missnida, I got this from the school website. I'm also in the UALR program (and from CA;)) and they are in the works of converting the program to BSN:balloons: What pre-reqs have you completed. Nursing Curriculum Support Courses RHET 1311 Composition I RHET 1312 Composition II MATH 1302 College Algebra or MATH 1315 College Mathematics PSYC 2300 Psychology and the Human Experience or SOCI 2300 Introduction to Sociology BIOL 1411 Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology I BIOL 1412 Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology II BIOL 2401 Microbiology HIST 2300 U.S. History to 1877 or HIST 2312 U.S. History since 1877 or POLS 1310 American National Government CHEM 1400 Fundamental Chemistry I All of the support course don't have to be completed before admission into the program but they will have to be completed in order to move forward in the program.
  5. I'm interested in this too
  6. Wow I wish I hadn't read this thread. Now I'm really scared.
  7. Are smart phones allowed?
  8. I moved here two years ago from Cali. I have seen quite a few confederate flags around here. (it is the south). The weather is crazy. Snow one day, 70 degrees the next. Tornados, thundestorm warnings. There are a million species of bugs that I have never seen in my life. I swear I saw something that looked as big as a fairy the other night. If you want something to do, you must actively seek it out or you'll be at home becomng a couch potato. I love the state fair, the river fest, the country boys. No bumper to bumper traffic. No looooong lines in the DMV. In the fall, everthing is so beautiful when the leaves on the trees start to change colors. Majority of the people I've met are really nice. Sometimes overly. But I prefer that the alternative. Oh. The razorbacks are THE thing here and Jermaine Taylor. Don't talk bad about either or you'll be tarred & feathered on sight. :trout: :argue: j/k
  9. This question is for students new and old. Anyone using a pda? If so, what kind? Was it helpful? Do you recommend it?
  10. So to get into the accelerated option, do you need to have already completed micro?
  11. I just found out I was accepted to the UALR nursing program for this fall. Anyone else.
  12. Its just tv. Maybe you should watch House. He doesn't discriminte :nuke: He offends EVERYONE.
  13. Do the schools on the lottery system have waitlists or must you reapply each semester?
  14. I'm not a nurse or nursing student (yet), but life is not fair. There are plenty of people with degrees that they do not use. I know a woman who is a dentist and has never practiced because she doesn't have to. It's unfortunate for the person who didn't make the cut, but thats how it is. Why is it a problem if they think Nursing is easier than Chemistry or Biology. For them it may be. Why is that a problem? You never know they may get into it and find that they love it (or hate it and drop out:devil: ) Treat them as you would any other competition. Just try harder next time. Raise your G.P.A. Apply to more schools. my .02
  15. Thanks for the response, sdmommie. My only preferences are BSN program in So. Cal. and probably a CSU. Any help really is appreciated. :)
  16. Hey everyone, I'm from Cali but am going to school in another state. I'm think of going back to CA for nursing school but I'm really not sure what the admissions game is like. I'm finishing up my pre-reqs for BSN and should be ready to come back home in June 07. So how difficult is it to get in? I hear there's like a 1 or 2 year wait or some kind of lottery system. What is that all about? Does this apply to BSN programs? Can someone help me out with some info and/or advice. Thanks!
  17. ttt So are there any new students/ prospective students at PVU? I'm interested in the program
  18. Is this the cummulative gpa or the nursing pre reqs?
  19. Starting pre-nursing this Fall @ University of Arkansas, Little Rock
  20. If you don't enjoy being a CNA, does that mean that you will not enjoy being an RN? I'm not a CNA but considering taking the course and working for experience.
  21. This forum is usually pretty dead, but every now and then someone wakes it up with a question. I just moved to Little Rock in Feb 05 I start at UALR as a junior starting my pre-reqs for nursing. I'm really geeked about it and can't wait to start.
  22. Hi Everyone, I start pre-reqs for BSN this Fall 05 and should be finished by Summer/Fall 06. I would not be eligible to apply for my program of choice until Spring 07 which gives my about two years. I NEED to work and would like to get some nursing/hospital experience during this time. Would it make any since to become an RN through a diploma program so that I am able to work as an RN during school? Or does that not make any since at all? All advice or suggestions are welcome. Thanks
