Aussie getting to US - Paeds and Maternity?
No, not yet. CGFNS needs theory hours to process the application fully and send it to the BON in Florida. Finding a University that will let me complete an elective in surgical nursing has been difficult.

Aussie getting to US - Paeds and Maternity?
Hey :) I've just been through the process of applying to the US. If your last placement can be in paediatrics definitely sign up for it. As for maternity request placement there. The US requires hours in medical, surgical, paediatrics, maternity, mental health and community. Unfortunately I didn't receive a surgical placement so I only have the theory portion on that requirement. It's a long process but compared to other countries quite affordable. Good luck!

Requirements for living and working in Canada?
Hi there :) Is the two year diploma course then classed as an enrolled nurse and not an RN?

Australian trained nurse registering to work in Ireland...
Hey! Sorry, this isn't answering your question. I'm just wondering how long the process was to get registered in Canada? Also, is it easy to find a job over there? I'd ideally like to move to BC. Otherwise I was considering Ireland...the first year of a four year degree is usually general studies. So perhaps ours does match up with the nursing units. Sorry again for asking on your post :)

2013 RPA Graduate Nurses
That's great Mopples :) What wards did you end up choosing as preferences? I'm starting to get really nervous/excited about moving next month. I'm finding it difficult trying to find somewhere to live in central Wagga Wagga. It's so stressful when I'm still on placement and working on assignments.

2013 RPA Graduate Nurses
Mallory11 aw your contract arrived in the mail? That must have been exciting! Mine was just by email...which is still exciting but not some giant envelope haha. Anyway, I know someone who started at RPA this year as a grad and she didn't find out her first ward until orientation and her second ward just before her first 6 months was up. I didn't receive any info about wards at WWBH either. Congrats on graduating :)

2013 Wagga Wagga Base Hospital graduates.
Thank you :) It's definitely a relief. Something will come along for you soon, stay positive. I'm going to PM you details. EDIT: Oops your PM isn't working. Have you sent out any expressions of interest to hospitals? When I received the call a week ago, I'm not sure, but I got the impression there were multiple vacancies at WWBH. I could be completely wrong but if you're interested in working there a call/email couldn't hurt. Before I received this offer I emailed quite a few hospitals, just in case a position became available and they remembered my perseverance lol. Good luck :)

2013 Wagga Wagga Base Hospital graduates.
Hi! I'm just wondering if anyone has accepted an offer at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital? There are 22 of us so it would be great to meet some people before starting :)

Anybody start getting second round new grad offer?
An update: I spoke to someone at NSW Health today and he told me all positions are full. So I guess they only go back to the eligibility list now if someone drops out or more positions become available.

Anybody start getting second round new grad offer?
Hi, I don't have any answers for you but I'm on the eligibility list too. I hope you're right about everyone getting offers. I think they can be for any hospital in NSW, not just your preference list.

Didn't get into new grad program - what next?
I have the exact same problem! (Except in a different state). Perhaps further study or workshops? You're interested in Paeds, right? Mopples on the other thread has a link to a workshop at RCH in Melbourne on another thread. That might be an advantage over other applicants.

Which Sydney hospital?
Sweet, thank you! I'm definitely keen on doing that.
-
Which Sydney hospital?
Awesome, thanks so much Mopples :) That will help with the wait. What was the mini Paeds course at RCH you were discussing a few weeks ago?
-
Which Sydney hospital?
Hopefully it works out that way. The wait was already bad enough before today.

Which Sydney hospital?
That's a shame. I know how keen you were to work there. Hmm my email is from RHW but it says: "I refer to your application for the 2013 Graduate Registered Nurse Transition Recruitment with NSW Health and advise that you have not been successful in obtaining a position at this time as all available positions have been allocated. Your name has been placed on an eligibility list and you may be contacted in the future if a position becomes available at any participating hospital in NSW." It's weird it doesn't say our other preference hospitals would be in contact. Maybe we'll have to wait until the 16th when people have to accept or reject their offers? :/ So confusing!

Which Sydney hospital?
Yep that was it. Oh wow haha this could be one very disappointing day.
-
Which Sydney hospital?
I was placed on the eligibility list too

Which Sydney hospital?
Thank you for the advice Imaginations :) Hopefully it works out the same this year. Less than 24 hours! *hyperventilating* Mopples and Newbie12 I just had prac in Paediatrics and it was amazing!!! Good luck with the SCH! Wishing it was my first preference now and not 6th lol. Bye

Thank you Ceridwyn :) *Fingers crossed*

Reference checks for NSW health new grad program
I just hope to get an offer...the hospital doesn't matter lol. Ohh ok, hmm. The information sheet says 9am but maybe it means from 9am onwards :/

Reference checks for NSW health new grad program
I think emails are sent out at 9am so we don't have to panic all day lol. This wait is horrible.

Which Sydney hospital?
I don't want to bring negative thoughts to the discussion but what happens if we aren't offered a job? I think grad applications have closed all over Aus. Will hospitals employ new nurses without a grad year? :/

Which Sydney hospital?
Haha yeah it's definitely hard not to stress but luckily there's a lot of Uni work to do before the 5th of Oct to keep us busy In the end, at the very least, it was a great experience for future interviews. It's reassuring that other applicants were really nervous too (hopefully that doesn't sound bad). Let's update again when we know? Hopefully I'll need that advice :) Sydney was so confusing with trains, the monorail, buses and taxis lol it's like a maze. Good luck for SCH again! :)

Which Sydney hospital?
Oh my goodness Mopples I had such a bad interview. It started with the attributes question and I had an answer planned but completely went blank! Then after mumbling something out I rushed the rest of the questions. I can only remember 5/6 of them but I gave plain answers and forgot the STAR method. I really hope I'm just over analysing it and get offered a position in any of my 8 preferences. Fingers crossed!

Hi Mopples, I'm so glad your interview went well! :) Thank you for the luck, I'll post next week about it.
