I used the Pearson Reviewer, and just did plenty of questions in addition to that - Saunders, Lippincott, Mosby, etc. I did not open any of my textbooks unless there was a topic/med/disease process that I really did not understand. Don't lose hope and don't forget to do some self-care activities while you're reviewing! You can do this!

I got that email, too - it said that it was due to a late bid or submission. ... If I turned it in late, then why was I interviewed in the first place?

When I was applying for LVN jobs, my first 3 interviews didn't go well, and I think it's bc I let myself become too intimidated by the manager. On my 4th though, I prepared for it much more thoroughly. I gave myself plenty of time to commute to the site, stayed in my car for a bit and just really thought about the times during nursing school when I felt most fulfilled and rewarded as a nurse - and I used that as encouragement, and! Even brought one instance as an example during the interview. I have an interview later this week for an RN position, and I'll be doing the same preparation. Just be genuine and honest. Reheorifice in front of a mirror, or even in your car on your way to your next interview. :) We can do this - we had it in us to finish school and pass the NCLEX - going through interviews is just another obstacle to take on so we can be full-pledged RNs!

I was told this, but I didn't get the exact details about the interview. I just called HR right now and the office said an email will be sent tomorrow for the selected candidates. Is this the same for others? I'm feeling discouraged now...

I'm really confused as far as how the procedure goes now... my friend who had gotten hired at PanCity said that they do mostly internal hires/transfers... but if that was the case then your friend should've gotten priority. Did she apply to the woodland hills one?

I chose peds, and, yes, I live locally. The recruiter said they're arranging the meetings so they can put a face to the names... they'll be scheduling interviews during which we'll meet hiring managers, DAs, educators, etc. I didn't get a tour... is that a bad sign? I hope they have plenty of openings! I tried to get a number, but all I got was they had many applicants. Fortunately, all the mentioned areas - peds, medsurg, women's, and perinatal - are taking new grads. Let's pray that everything works out!

@missdia - yes, woodland hills. Maybe they'll schedule other meetings after the memorial day weekend. @kv07 - I've worked as an LVN for 3 years at a clinic and my RN experience amounts to less than a month. I'm hoping that persistent applying will have positive results.

I got that questionnaire/email early this week. My response was a paragraph or two. I then received a follow-up email with dates and times on when to come in so we can have a "brief meeting" regarding the program with the recruiter - just talked about when it will start (July), how long the orientation is, etc. Are we talking about the same program? Med-surg/perinatal/onco/peds/women's? I've been told that there's a possibility of another cohort for a later start date in August.

Volunteering can be a foot in the door of some company that will hire nurses but may be completely unrelated to direct patient care! Look into hospitals that have research groups who are needed volunteer nurses - this may be an eye-opener and an option for those who are realizing that they are not compatible with bedside nursing.

i actually resigned from my first nursing job straight out graduation - i was only there for 2 months - because the commute was just horrible. it was 48 miles away from where i lived, and the commute to and from the hospital for night shift just coincided with rush hour traffic. what should be taking 1 hr to drive was taking me almost 2-3 hrs sometimes. i couldn't handle it. had to quit, and i'm now looking for another position that is much closer to home.

I also applied for a new grad position but this one is for kaiser woodland hills. the recruiter sent out what looks like a generic email with dates for us to come in so they can give us more information about the program that is beginning in july. i think these are just info sessions though, not the actual interview. i have a co-worker who secured a spot in the new grad program at panorama city, and she said that she had to go through a panel and one-on-one interview before she was hired.
