I would take algebra. Actually I think you HAVE to take algebra before you could even take statistics, at least that is how it is at my school. Cheryl

I just submitted my FAFSA yesterday and also applied for the Sallie Mae Tuition Answer loan which I would use for what "free money" I didnt get, mainly childcare costs. I received an answer of loan withdrawn?? What is that suppose to mean? I am a SAHM with 4 kids, hubby is the breadwinner. I did not have a co signer. What do I do now?? We do not have the funds to put two little ones in daycare so I NEED that loan. Its not that I don't want to be a nurse, I just want to make sure I am heading in the right direction. To take the amount of time and energy in nursing school for it to turn around and not be a good fit for me. Do you know what I mean?? I have really been searching and I am 90 percent sure my heart says to go for it. So I guess I will and if it turns out that I was headed in the wrong direction, well at least I would have had a great learning experience. Cheryl

I am currently in the process of completing my pre reqs so I can apply for the RN program at my school. However, after reading some of the things on this board, I am having doubts. Too many patients and not enough nurses; getting sick all the time; the first 2 years being horrible are some of the things I have heard. I just don't want to invest all this time and money into something that could be a mistake. I wanted to go into nursing after my third child needed to have open heart surgery at 4 days old. The Rn's in the NICU were so inspiring and kind. I wanted to be like that. I have four kids and get sick so easily so when i read that some nurses are sick all the time, it was a turn off for me. I love the idea of working 3 days a week only. The stability of the profession. Helping people in need. I know there are bad part of any job. I just want to make the right profession choice. Winter semester will be my second semester since starting back to school. This semester I have taking 5 credit hours which is 2 classes. Next semester I am taking 3 classes, 11 credit hours all which are online. I am taking Nutrition, English and Math. I am honestly a little nervous because I am already super busy being a mom to 4 kids under 9 plus I will be watching my g/f newborn sometime in Feb. So what is everyone planning to take next semester? Cheryl

I am so sorry for all this stress you are going through. I wish I could give you the perfect advice but I can't. Follow your heart. I pray everything goes well with your son. I have four children and my #3 also had open heart surgery and I remember when the flu season came how worried i became. Luckily for me, he is okay. I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Everything will work out the way it is intended too.

After my third child was born with a heart defect called transposition of the great vessels that required open heart surgery and seeing how caring/helpful/supportive the NICU nurses were to him and us, I knew that is what i wanted to do with my life. Cheryl

INSENSITIVE. Are you kidding. I agree with you 100%!! I don't feel gambling is an addiction either. Your body doesn't NEED it like someone who for instance has a drug problem. Its all about choices. Hubby can choose me and his kids OR the casino. Easy as that. Just a matter of making the right choice. Someone mentioned the marriage vows. Yes i said them but in the end I am going to do what my heart and head says to do with the help of God. Cheryl

I just typed this whole message and I lost it. Anyways we did spend some time apart. I stayed in the house with the kids and he stayed away for a week but he wasn't willing to stay away any longer which i felt was very selfish of him. Someone here mentioned the marriage builders website. I ordered the books and workbook that hubby and I are going to work on together. Cheryl

My pastor has...his uncle has a gambling addiction and ruined his life, etc. Really though as far as me listening more to him, I have tried that. I try to understand but I can't. I can't understand how someone is the prime breadwinner and has 4 kids and a wife at home can behave this way. To me it is pure selfishness if he continues since i have drawn the line with him. It is VERY possible he could be at the casino right now. I have been trying to get a hold of him for several hours now and he isn't answering his phone. Its 10pm. THIS SUCKS!!!!!! Cheryl

It is just so hard to make a decision right now. He hasn't been going out to play poker in almost 3 weeks now but he started watching it on tv recently which i feel is a bad idea since it will tempt him. He said he won't go to the casino without talking to me first. My guard is just way up. ~Cheryl

Thank you all for the replies. I have a LLLOOOONNGGG time before I finish school since i am just starting pre reqs next month. I am going to look into finding a family therapist. You now what really bothers me is my pastor, MY PASTOR, says to me "RUN DONT WALK" in regards to the marriage. I feel my husband is FINALLY taking me serious and i guess i am scared to death of him turning in the other direction again. I don't want my kids to grow up from a broken home. Hopefully therapy will help US! I know i can be a nag Cheryl

1. He is a good father when he wants to be. It is not consistent. 2. He is a good provider when he can cash his paycheck. His business is not doing so well, possible because of the fact that he'd use the bus money to gamble and be at the casino when he should be at work. 3. I love who he use to be, not the person he has become. 4. He didn't gamble b4 we married. 5. I don't know, I wish i did. 6. No the lifestyle would not be as good as it is now. We live in an expensive area but there are other areas around here that are nice and are less $$ 7. I hope thngs change and i could trust him again. 8. He has the ability to make me laugh and he can be reassuring when i am scared like starting school lol :) 9. I had a mess up 5 years ago with an ex boyfriend where we kissed and he still is resentful from that. 10. I dont think he wants a divorce but he is sick of fighting which is why he says he is done playing poker. I feel someone who has a problem, an addiction probelm no less, needs professional help. He is not making the effort to get the help. I am a stay at home mom right now and have no degree but my parents who live in the area are willing to take me and the kids in. Cheryl

My hubby and I have been married for 8.5 years and have 4 kids together. We have been having a hard time the past almost 2 years. He has a gambling problem and i have lost all trust in him. He and Iwent to marraige counseling last year and it didnt help. He doesn't think he has a problem. He hasn't played poker in 2 weeks and because of it he acts as if i should be kissing his feet. I asked him to seek counseling and write me a letter stating that if he should play again to understand that he then leaves me no choice but to file for divorce. He has not put any effort to do those things and it has been 2 weeks now. It says to me, i am going to do things my way. I told him today to stay away for a few days that i don't want to see him. So... My question is do i "stick it out" until i am done with school or do i look into getting out now? Do i want a divorce? No not really. Do i love him? I am not IN LOVE with him. I am very irritable around him. He gets on my nerves so fast. I dont wear my wedding ring anymore. I have felt like a single mom for a LONG time. Sorry for rambling. Cheryl
