Desperate Patients
((It bothers me that someone would go to such drastic measures to lose weight. While I fully understand the desire to lose weight, I don't understand the desperate measures.)) Have you [anyone] ever been trapped in an elevator long enough to pea in the corner? Been in an abusive relationship, fearful for the lives of your children, yourself, yet having nowhere to go nor even the means to leave? That it may be outside of our experience (even outside our [rational?] comprehension) makes it no less real. No less tragic. No less desperate. Somehow we are supposed to figure out how to help. That is how I got on this path. And is what keeps me going. So far, anyway...... Believing in FreeHugs, Sarah

Volunteering in the E.R.
I have about 200 hrs. volunteer time in a local er. They tend to take advantage of me being a CNA, in the best way. It has been *great* experience. I have learned a lot. Maybe most important, how it feels to be in this environment (it's not med/surg) and my relationship with/to staff and patients/families. If they would hire CNA's, I'd be working there. No doubt. Period. Feels like home.

Are ER nurses prone to getting sick more often than other specialities?
I volunteer in an ER lobby (the only way for a CNA to get close here), maybe 11 weeks now. And I do think I came home with something new every week. Not bad, I've never been one to get sick, but "bugged" for sure. I really do believe though that, before long, there will be enough exposure to enough things that it will be much less of an issue. I'm two weeks in the clear. So.... maybe it is starting to work already. It would be great to see some statistics on this though. Anyway, I love it, being around the ER, the staff is so tight, and it is great exposure ;-) while I do the school thing. ...just some green somones thoughts Sarah

Interview on Mon
I can't offer advice, only encouragement. Good Luck. I am just starting in pre-nursing after finishing my CNA. Public health is really where I want to go, especially rural. Would love to hear how you interview goes. Best Wishes, Best of Luck, Sarah
