Question about ATI prep course
Our school has recently implemented the ATI testing program in our final semester. I am curious, has anyone else used this NCLEX prep and if it accurately determines your possibilities of passing the NCLEX on the first try. We do two practice tests and receive scores and then need to remediate in which ever areas we score below a 70% on. At the end of the semester we will have a proctored exam for ATI and that will give us a determination if we will pass NCLEX or not on the first try. Regardless of what I would get I still plan on doing a review course for NCLEX. But if you took this ATI course did it help you? Thanks in advance for any input!

Tri-C nursing 2300
Yeah I know people that did great in her class and then are having a hard time in OB! I did great in OB...but I still studied, used my book and did nclex questions. I wish I was just one of those people who didn't have to study...Hopefully it will work to my advantage when it comes to the NCLEX after we graduate!

Tri-C nursing 2300
Good luck! I failed her component. And I am a straight A student...it was a blow to ego for sure! I studied her notes like everyone said...did a millions of nclex questions from Lippincott...I missed passing by 2 points. Psych is just hard, its a lot of gray area...its not like med-surge, where there are definitive answers. She didn't lecture on Chemical Dependency or Anxiety disorders for our last exam...didn't even get a breeze!

ADN Program - Kent vs Tri-C
Tri-C is fully accredited. They are being reviewed by the accreditation board again this spring. I had no idea Kent had an ADN program until after I was accepted to Tri-C. Had I known I may have looked into their program a little more, since it seemed more flexible for evening and weekends. I had to quit my job to go days at Tri-C. KSU is supposed to be really nice.

BSN vs ADN in Cleveland/Akron Area
twinner05, whats your basis of Tri-c not being a good nursing school? Did you go there? Just curious, no offense applied, but if people are weighing their options; seems like a good idea to give a reason why they are not a good school.

How old were you when you started Nursing School?
I start my ADN on the 28th, my birthday, and I will be 38. I am married, have two children 9 and 5. I started some of my readings for the first day of lecture and I already feel overwhelmed. But we want this, why else would have chose to go back after so many years?! Trust me life was kind of normal with a 9-5 job...but something has been pulling me toward this career for many years...I just finally decided to take the leap!

What Stethoscope for first semesters of Clinicals
Do I need to get the top of the line for clinical? My sister who is a RRT, says that I really don't need to get one because there is always a stethoscope in the room you can use...but I am a little grossed out by using someone else's!

Voice Recorders
If you use a voice recorder, which model do you have? I am planning on getting one for fall when I start the nursing program. Thanks!

Any Nursing Students for Spring 2014 for Tric?? Cuyahoga Community College
This is good to know. I went to KSU for 3 years, never knew they had an ADN program! I wish I would have known this before I applied at Tri-C! But good to know I have a back up if Tri-C doesn't pull through on this accreditation!

School appealing loss of NLN accreditation - start over or take a chance?
Sorry didn't know you knew that. In 2010 they were downgraded from Accreditted to Accreditted with Conditions, and they were to correct their wrongs. They came back in March 2013, to review the school and see if they had corrected the issues. According to NLNAC they did not so at their next meeting the voted to deny Tri-C of their Accreditation, which our school immediately appealed that and paid a fee to file an appeal and maintain their status of Accreditation with Conditions. I'm curious, you said your school just recently went through this, did their accreditation get denied or were they just warned? I am really praying that everything works out. The editorials really paint our school in a bad light, however I know a ton of people who have graduated from the program and are amazing nurses. But it is a shame we were not made aware that the accreditation was with conditions prior to the article coming out in the paper.

School appealing loss of NLN accreditation - start over or take a chance?
Our school is called Cuyahoga Community College. The appeal takes 90 Days and the school is telling us they will have an answer by July. If you can't find a school on NLNACs website its because they are not accreditted. They only list the schools that are currently accreditted and their current status.

School appealing loss of NLN accreditation - start over or take a chance?
I am due to start at Tri-C Nursing Program Fall 2013. I am 38yo, and I too feel I am at a loss right now on what to do. We are still able to take our NCLEX, because we are still recognized by the BON. However, most higher education in our area only take credits from accredited institutions. So to move on to you BSN after you graduate would be next to impossible, and most hospitals in our area will not hire an RN w/out a degree from an accredited institution. I am going into this with a hope that they still retain their accreditation. The rumor is they will reapply (if their appeal is denied) and current students will be "grandfathered in" to the accreditation once they receive it back..That being said if they do lose it and have to reapply, I will switch gears and go thru the surgical tech program. I can't afford to go get my BSN so my plan was to get my ADN, and then move on to a BSN program after I had a year in the hospital and some experience. And hopefully have the hospital help with paying for the BSN. And being told I will be grandfathered into an accreditation just isn't enough security for me.

Can't seem to catch a break!! Will I ever get into a program!!
I hear you. I have been accepted to a nursing program, I was all set to quit my job in June...then I just received the medical records requirement and the Hep B requirement that I am supposed to have completed before our orientation in late May or early June! How on earth am I supposed to complete that series before orientation if they didn't send me the requirements until this past Monday!? I have emailed the director of the program, letting her know I have my appt to start the series on Monday and will complete all other pending vacs prior...but the Hep B is just not going to be done by orientation! The school states if you don't have that stuff by orientation you can't schedule classes! So frustrating.

Just got my health requirements for nursing school...
No, I purposely went through all my pre-nursing requirment info last night...my acceptance letter that I received in September. There is no mention of what the medical records requirements were. I emailed the director of the program, let her know I have an appt for my health exam Monday; will start hep B then...and I am PRAYING my mom is able to get her hands on my vaccine history for Mumps and Measles. I called my insurance to see if I should have titers pulled, she suggested it would be covered 100% if I just got all my vaccines again. But I am not really sure that is a good idea. I am just going ot go to my appt and hope for the best.

Just got my health requirements for nursing school...
I am so frustrated. Because I was accepted into the fall 2013 program back in Sept. Yesterday I received an email stating we would need to get a health checkup/physical and be able to provide proof of immunity/vaccinations for your typical childhood vacs etc. Which is fine, I figure if I couldn't get in touch with the pediatrician I had 30 years ago I would just have titers drawn for those and chicken pox. But then I read that I need a Hep B vaccine, I am pretty sure i have never had one, so I called the dr and said I would need a physical and at the very least the Hep B vac. I read further that you must have the complete series before you are allowed to register for classes for the fall semester when you come to Orientation which will be in late may or early june. Well, come to find out when I talk to my dr office they said that I would get the first series of hep b, and then a month later the next shot. Then I would need to wait 6 months, for the final shot. So I called the school and told them this. They basically said, "oh well, you won't be able to register". How is that even remotely possible?! How do they send out the health requirements 2 months before orientation and expect people to get caught up on vaccines or even complete a series before signing up for classes with only 2 months notice?! I am so e

Thoughts on taking Microbiology in Fall with first semester Nursing courses?
Thanks for the thoughts! I think I will go ahead and take micro in the summer. I am hoping to quit my job early in the summer so my kids get some "summer fun" and a less structured summer that they're used to. So a micro class wouldn't be too bad. runsalot - I love rate my professor. However with our courses at the college, they don't post who the instructor is until about 2-3 weeks before classes begin...by then you have already registered for classes and my case have already paid. Like this current semester, I was told by another prof that was subbing for my instructor last semester that he taught APII on saturdays. So I pick the class, all set and he had RAVE reviews on rate my professor....only to find out after I was registered and all other classes locked out...that I had a different professor! I was so upset. This guy has so-so reviews and is highly unorganized!!

Thoughts on taking Microbiology in Fall with first semester Nursing courses?
I am hoping some of you experienced nursing students can help me make a decision. after this semester, the only thing I have left to take is my microbiology. I had planned on taking it over the summer, but since all I have left are my nursing classes, I wondered if it would be so bad to just add that to one of the classes I'll be taking fall semester, along with Clinicals. I haven't had my orientation yet for my program, that is supposed to happen in April . I am going for my ADN. In looking at the program sequence it looks like I only have 2 classes to take, that first semester, Health Deviations I and Community/Home Nursing. don't know when Clinicals will be. I will not be working fulltime when I start the program in the fall. I wanted to test it out and see if I could possibly get a part time job just to keep some income flowing in so it isn't as difficult a transition for my family.

Tri-C (Cuyahoga Community College) Fall 2013 Nursing Students for
I took my HESI A2 Exam the end of August, had my background check done early september. And I think i had my acceptance by the end of september early october. At that time I was enrolled in AP1. I agree with associatedegree, people may change their minds so spots may open for Fall Days. I thought I saw Metro still had spots. But I could be wrong. Make sure you use the email for the nursing dept they will not return phone calls! They only respond to that email, and if you can use your Tri-C email account to email them as well. Good Luck!! :)

Tri-C (Cuyahoga Community College) Fall 2013 Nursing Students for
I start the Nursing Program Fall 2013 at Tri-C. I just wanted to see if I could connect with anyone who will be going in too. I am currently finishing up my psych, A&PII this semester and then will be taking microbiology in the summer. That way I will be all set and only have to focus on the nursing classes! :)
