  1. ditto to BeachyRN--Except I started in March with another new RN who work circles around me (she is also 1/2 my age) Im at the 8 month mark now and I have learned a lot, but I still dont have the organizational skills. I leave late almost q day. I cant help but compare myself to this other RN that started with me. She never leaves late. Ive had terrible days where I cried my eyes out in front of my manager. I really regret my crying and Im sorry it happened because Ive noticed that Im treated differently by my once warm manager. I tried approaching the other new rn for advice and she wasnt much help. She is quite immature and feels she is competing with me. Which btw, if it were a competition she would be ahead for sure. Im just paranoid that I will miss something in the chart that should have been handled. Forget a simple policy or procedure for discharge, forget to chart something, forget to follow up on something, the list goes on and on. It's funny that patient care isnt what I feel Im lacking confidence in so much. My preceptor was transferred to another floor, and I think that I might have gotten ripped off during my orientation, due to the fact that she left and I got another preceptor that didnt really do a great job. But, by the time I realized this I was on my own. Ive gotten some help from other nurses but they dont realize how lost I really can be sometimes. and it seems the more time that goes by the more Im feeling worse because now Im past the "6 month" mark. any ideas?
  2. Unable to get a venous sample, the tech pulled the blood from a finger stick. Wouldnt that make the K higher d/t hemolosys? K was 5.9. 48hours before from venous blood it was 3.6...... I brought it up to a couple of other RNs but I was dismissed. I think Im right. Any ideas or thoughts?
  3. 1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75 2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? kaplan-classroom and online with qbank--highly recommend 3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? ati 4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 47 1/2 hours 5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? not 100% sure i passed, but i didnt think i could have done soo bad to fail at 75 questions. let's say i was about 70-80% sure i passed. (i did) 6. was this your first attempt at nclex? yes
  4. I passed NCLEX with 75 questions. I used Kaplan, and I think I gained some useful strategies as well as just doing all those questions with rationales. I was scoring low 60's with some high 50s on trainers and qbanks. I only did 5 trainers and about 500 qbank questions.
  5. my Kaplan teacher said that scores in the 60s mean you are ready! I guess I will find out next week.......:uhoh21:

  7. Im scheduled for NCLEX next Wednesday. On my question trainers to date I have scored: 62,63,62,61. In the classroom readiness exam I scored 62. The instructor told our class that anyone scoring 58 or above on the readiness test- she guarantees will pass NCLEX. --Let's hope that one is true. I agree that doing the Qbanks in tutor mode is the way to go. Use it as a study guide. The test trainers take a long time to complete and you can't review until after you are done--it is not as helpful for me to do it this way. I will take test trainer 5 today, but I will not be going beyond that-- only qbanks in tutor mode, oh, and I started taking notes in a notebook along the way, it has been very helpful for me to do this, since I have to write it down and then when I take a break, I read thru my notebook, so I feel Im getting reinforcement this way. good luck everyone! :anpom::anpom::anpom::anpom:
  8. :tku::mchmrdnc:doh!
  9. :bugeyes:Just wondering what this stands for since I keep seeing it. I took Kaplan and Im testing in two weeks and Ive never heard this term.... thanks
  10. Im in my last semester and considering the NICU. Do the nurses do all of the things you mention here---ABGs, intubating, inserting chest tubes?????!!!!
