  1. Right, I wasn't seeming like I had more authority over a licensed nurse, did I? That's not at all my intention. Yes, as I looked yesterday, there was no gray area. Looking at Tn BON, it was absolutely nothing about externs. Phew! Looking at 2 bons in one day get exhausting lol
  2. Thanks for that! As for finding clarification, I am being told my instructors to look at the BON site for reference: well, in my state, they mention externs once, lol. I'm sure it will all come together and like you said, I can just do what non-licensed personnel can do like triage and ekgs :) So, I will take your route and email/call them! I totally forgot in all this whirlwind of a mess that I should directly contact them!
  3. I have a friend who owns a Dr. office who said she would gladly accommodate me as a Student nurse. I'm at school in Mississippi but the facility is in Tn. I have read the rules of TN & Ms BON, cannot find what I am able to do! The facility has nurse practitioners and medical assistants. With this being said, she said she can hire me on as an extern, only problem, I'm the first and she has no idea what I can do either! She's going to speak with the Dr and APNs but until then, does any one have a clue where I can find student nurse guideline since this is an employment opportunity not affiliated with my school? I definitely know I can't do invasive procedures.
  4. I love reading this because I too will be a graduate nurse in Dec 2014. I've already picked up on many acute changes so far with my med-surg patients and I feel as though my home should be in critical care. I've been a Medical Assistant since late '06 and worked specialty. Thanks for everyone not labeling new grads as the same.
  5. I actually know ADNs who work there who say you have to prove to them you plan on getting your BSN upon hiring, and I am a ADN student who has 2 intern applications being sent on their way to the hiring managers, per HR. The people I know who work at LeBonheur say the recruiter has to say that. They do, however, want to be all BSN by 2020. You need to go to their website and apply, but just know, it takes about 3 months for them to hire.
  6. Thanks so much, I heard the process takes forever. Funny you should say that about the interview; I have a sheet I had answered of interview questions just in case . I've been in the medical field for 4.5 years and I absolutely get no greater joy than taking care of someone. Thank you again for the heads up, I heard it was almost impossible to get an externship and I'm just thankful I'm considered. I only dream they call me in to interview me, it's where I want to call home. I had to actually take the assessment and turn it in with my application, so I'm hoping that means it was favorable since I'm being looked at by the hiring manager.
  7. Hey y'all! I applied to an OR extern for Lebonheur in Germantown. My application status says "application has been reviewed", so I called HR to see what it meant. The nice lady said it was on its way to the hiring manager! This was on 11/12 and my Lebonheur nurse friends says that's a great thing! I also noticed that they took the job posting down in the search results, unlike the others I applied to. Now, I'm waiting and I can't help but wonder what to expect next? I'm trying my best to relax and finish the last bit of this semester... But I'm just so excited to even be considered. Anyone have any words of wisdom? I feel like I'm waiting to be accepted into nursing all over again lol!!
  8. I found out that going from a 2.9 to a 3.0 gives you a point. That came from the admissions officer.
  9. Anyone have an update? I applied for Sprimg 2013 and I got wind of a few already getting acceptance letters in! I haven't gotten anything yet but I was told it wouldbe the packet if you're accepted and a letter if not.. Nerve racking.....
  10. Start studying now, you will feel more confident. Most of the material on both kind of go hand in hand. I made a 81% on reading and 86% on my math and a 22 on my ACT. The ACT seemed harder since it took the longest and its on paper where as the TEAS is on the computer and you know your scores ASAP!
  11. I am waiting, too! It's my second time trying for my program and I knew I wasn't getting in the first time, but this time, I really don't know! I wish you all good luck and hope we all get what we worked for! :)
  12. I'm about to take my TEAS for the second time next Friday, so wish me luck! This is my second time trying to get into The RN program at my choice school, I even retook my ACT! Keep trying no matter what! I look at it as a challenge, a test as to how bad I want it! :)
  13. My friend had gotten her denial at the end of last month, if that helps. Other than that, I would call or email my advisor if I were you. Hope this helps!
