  1. I worked as a Medical Assistant in an office where the office manager was the physician's wife. It worked pretty good for our small office. They both treated us like family. Also, she was usually able to make him see things from the rest of the staff's perspective and get him to change things he might not have otherwise changed (ex: being able to give flu shots to current patients without an appointment with him or one of the PA's). But from people that I've known that have worked in other offices, this positive atmosphere isn't always the case....
  2. I would think an incompetent nurse would be worse than a "fat nurse"...
  3. Good luck! I took mine yesterday too & it is going to be a LONG weekend waiting for results! Lol. I can't imagine having to wait weeks, or even months, like it used to be!
  4. My school actually had 2 pinning ceremonies. The first was halfway through the program where we were capped & then pinned by someone of our choosing. The second was a small ceremony the day before our graduation that was just for the graduates & faculty. We were pinned & also given our honor medallions if we had received them. I am glad our college had both ceremonies. Noone skipped out on the actual graduation ceremony b/c of the pinning ceremony.
  5. I worked an average of 24 hours per week when I was in school. For the last two years I worked two 12-hour night shifts every Friday & Saturday night. It worked pretty well for me, since I have a family. I was able to study as much as I wanted to on evenings and weekends (& @ work on slow nights). It also worked b/c if I had to prep for clinicals or anything I could do it in the evening rather than working. I'm not sure how it would have possibly worked had I been working during the week! I would say, if you don't have to work, that would be the easiest for school. But, it is also good to get your foot in the door at a hospital. Maybe find a job where you're not required to work so many hours per week, so you can pick up more hours during not-so-busy weeks, and less hours during busy weeks. Good luck! :)
  6. I graduated May 5, got my ATT yesterday. Good luck! :)
  7. It would be interesting what a pharmacist in NE would say regarding this??? I used to work in a physician's office as Medical Assistant-and the back office staff (MA's or LPN's) were the only ones that could call in the Rx's....
  8. I have: Medscape, Micromedex, PubMed Mobile, & WebMD :)
