Nurses Day is coming up and I'd like to get something nice for my RN mentor. What would be a nice gift for the nurse that probably has every "RN" trinket there is?

I cannot stand a whiner that complains about every little thing. My friend is in the hospital and when I went in to visit her today, her "roomie" was constantly calling the nurses station whining about everything from needing towels in the bathroom to needing a bedside table repositioned. Let me just say, this was a pt that had just came back to the room after a 45 min. smoke break outside. She was perfectly capable of fixing the table herself. She seemed fine to us and come to find out she was fine indeed. They couldn't find anything wrong with her (we overheard the dr. informing her of the dx). HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH A WHINER?

Have any of you read and/or heard of the author Echo Heron? I just read: "Intensive Care: The Story of a Nurse" and it was AWESOME!!! Let me know if any of you have read her books. Thanks!

Are most hospitals/clinics using electronic charting? Which do you like better?:thankya:

"I have a ton of funny stories about arrogant staff/patients in hospitals..I should write a book! I wrote a journal in nursing school and had all the teachers laughing so hard about this subject that it is now, with my permission, used in our nursing school for teaching! I have actually signed a few copies! LOL!" I would LOVE a signed copy of your journal! I know it would help us "newbies" learn how to laugh more and help us get through school/clinicals. Think about it and let me know...I would be willing to pay for a copy of your masterpiece! :)

So I just watched this program on ABC - Gray's Anatomy and want to know if most dr.'s are as disrespectful and unappreciative of nurses? How do YOU deal with the jerk-think-they-are-better-than-God dr.'s?

I was so excited to watch this show and my heart sank when they said that crap! I was hoping in the end that jerk dr. would have been shown up by the RN. I hate how they have the RN's in the background. As a pre-RN student, it makes me crazy to think my dream and passion for nursing will feel like a fight to get credit and respect for my medical knowlege and hard work. Not to mention the other people out there that are interested in nursing and decide not to do it because of the sterotypes of the profession and the rude light they show dr.'s in. Are dr.'s really this way? We need a nursing show to give the glory back to the REAL hero's - the NURSES! Can I get an "AMEN"?!
