i think you should start with the concept of health rather than mental illness. gardening and baking are great activities that clients can enjoy and are meaningful and life long learning skills.empowerment is key and getting clients involved in doing activities rather than talking can give them a sense of belonging and purpose! :)
if its one thing iv learned in my 1st year of training its USE YOUR COMMON SENSE.....if you feel your in a dangerous position you probably are.psych nursing can be great fun and mind your own head.....enjoy :)
im nearly finished my first year of psych nursing.im loving it....theres defo an opening for health promo in nursing.you could use your computer skills to develop info packages for schools or something similar...enjoy the experience.it goes really fast :)
im only in my 1st year of nursing. i find EBP has it's place in nursing but accessing the info while on the wards is virtually impossible. i also find it useful for other modules such as sociology as you can relate EBP to the conformity or unionship between nurses on our wards. this in turn creates concepts for change and there is a lot of change happening lately in the psychiatric services.........
