  1. I went through a program, kind of like the previous poster above me. It was a M-F 8-4 type program, for 2.5 weeks, plus a week of clinicals at a local LTC facility. I haven't been in school for years, so it was an adjustment, with studying and there were nights I was up til almost midnight studying. I would do it again in a heartbeat though. I am sure you are going to do great. As others have said, the CNA course teaches you basics, like ADL's, resident rights, and basic nursing skills. I'm looking to take the EKG tech course next. Good luck to you!
  2. Hi everyone! I am a new CNA. Just got my certification a couple of months ago, so I've been job hunting ever since. I have worked in patient care for about 3-4 years, but I'm thinking people still see me as "new" since I've only been just recently certified. I am going for an interview in a couple of days, at a local hospital, for a CNA position in the telemetry unit. Can anyone tell me what to expect? I've only worked in a personal care home and in assisted living. I am a bit nervous, but also up for a challenge. Looking forward to broadening my experience and learn new things. Thanks for any advice. It's very much appreciated! :)
  3. Hi! I know this is over a year later, but I was wondering what happened with "on eagles wings" who started this thread. Did you get a job? Where are you working? I am a new graduate and just got my CNA. :) Very proud of myself, but now the task of finding a job is becoming harder than I thought it would. I got my certification at the end of Feb 2012, so it's been a little over 2 months now. I've been on 2 interviews since, and have a group interview at a local hospital this coming Friday, in the Telemetry unit. I graduated at the top of my class and never thought it would be so hard to find a job, but trying to be patient. I worked in assisted living for 2 years and left to further my education and get my certification, plus open up more options in places I could work. Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread. I enjoyed reading and knowing it is a process, and does take time. Hoping to find something soon. :) Amy
