  1. I graduated in December, moved back to CA and had a really difficult time with the CA BRN and getting my ATT so I was not eligible to sit for the NCLEX until the end of February. I basically spent that time studying for my test and then took a temp job as an independent contractor to be able to pay my bills while I applied to a ton of nursing jobs (since you can not have any nursing experience for most new grad positions.) I'm so, so thankful I only had to wait 6 months after graduation to begin a nursing job, I'm not sure what others who have been searching longer have done with their time.
  2. Thank you michelichka914! Good luck with JM, I hope you get it and they don't stick to all internals! malpal89- I also set up a job agent many months ago but it NEVER alerted me. I just got lucky that I saw the posting on Indeed.com the day it closed and got my application in on time I would definitely check job websites (like indeed) daily (in addition to hospital sites at places you really want to work) b/c the new grad applications close VERY QUICKLY!
  3. I was just hired into the Nurse Residency program as well! Looking forward to meeting the other new grads and finally beginning to work as a nurse!
  4. Hey michelichka914, I am external. Actually went to school in Philly but from the area. I did briefly volunteer at John Muir before the whole re-model back in 2007 though. I actually just found out I was hired into the Nurse Residency program at UC Davis though so sadly I will not be going to the panel interview. Davis starts June 4th and there is no way JM will have made decisions by then... but super grateful to have a job at a great hospital even if I do have to move to Sacramento! Good luck to you all! And best advice I can offer to those in the search, apply to as many jobs as you possibly can write cover letters for (I applied to at least 70-80), get ACLS and/or PALS certified and network, network, network!
  5. Hello, I also interviewed last Friday (May 4th). It was set up the day before and very brief- more of a screening interview. Does anyone know anything about the panel interview? Was everyone who interviewed invited to a panel interview? I'm not sure if I should prepare to interview for a specific floor or if they will keep it general and then place selected applicants where they see the best fit...
  6. For the Thornton IMU position I applied to in mid March I just noticed that my status changed to "Referred to Hiring Department 04/26/2012" so I guess they're still hiring? They also opened up more positions on this unit with the new batch of new grad postings this week...
  7. Congrats dcolonrn! I just received a call from HR that I'm moving onto the next stage of online reference checks! Does anyone have any idea how many candidates usually make it to this point? It's obviously less than the number that interviewed but I guess I'm hoping it's a very small number since they are only choosing 2 candidates on my floor! Best of luck to everyone else still waiting to hear back!
  8. Hey Neelieyelik! I also received a call Thursday for the telemetry floor (dream unit) and am interviewing on the same day as you! I'm really nervous as well, this is my first interview since graduating in December. Best of luck, I hope we both get it! :)
