New Navy Ensign going to ODS
There is time to learn things once you get there. You spend plenty of time studying the gouge pack you get!! Good luck. Try not to be too nervous and most of all....have fun!

Rank Questions
Have you discussed this with a recruiter? If you are going Navy, O-3 is not a boarded promotion. It automatic with the proper amount of credited time.

New to Navy, ODS, Portsmouth-need any help?
Officers rarely live on base and use 'possible hotel days' when transitioning into off-base housing. Not a true statement at all duty stations. Plenty of officers live on base at places other than Portsmouth.

Military Spouse RN
My experience has been that no base will give you the time of day until you have some experience as an RN under your belt. Honestly don't recall if it was 1 or 2 years they required at Ft. Campbell

Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession FY 2013
Hang in there. It's a long tough road....but so worth it in the end. Yes the waiting sucks!!

How old is "too old" to get commissioned?
I personally went in at 39 and had no issues. No waivers needed. Hope this helps! Go Navy!

If you need more info on Pensacola, a guy in my ODS class has been there a few months...I could try to get you in touch with him.

NAVY ODS
One of the best things I can tell you is to remember that whatever you take with you, you have to haul up 4 flights of stairs and you have to find a way to store it in your room! Very limited space! There are a ton of irons and ironing boards already there. There is a store room that has a ton of stuff people didn't use all of while there....such as cleaning supplies and laundry soap. Tons of alarm clocks in there too. Anything you aren't sure if they would have, you could wait to see once you get thee and if you need to go to the exchange to get it! If you arrive the day before class starts make sure you eat. You can go to the galley but if you get there too late you are out of luck! Be sure you are in shape for the physical side. Follow directions and most of all...work as a team. You will form some pretty awesome bonds with shipmates. Always lock your wall locker and be prepared for unannounced room inspections! Don't get caught with food in our room...that ends badly! Relax and take it all in because it's a great time!

5 minute Prone Float Navy
You jump off the platform 2 at a time. Then you swim one at a time whichever stroke you choose. Then you do the clothing flotation (super easy, they coach you thru it), then the prone float. I don't recall treading water for the swim test.

5 minute Prone Float Navy
They also let you do this bobbing up and down type thing for the 5 minutes if you aren't comfortable with the prone position.

Where to get uniforms?

Where to get uniforms?
What service are you going into Ajax? Just FYI, belvoir only has a small uniform shop with only army items. This is a joint facility but there is not a single navy item at this clothing store...I have to go to Bethesda for any uniform items!
