Thank you for your post, I LOVE the way you said it, the reality/rationality was awesome! I'm a grad from 2012 from IOT here in Salem. I had taken the NCLEX 2 times and failed both times just barely under the fail line I suppose I could use that analogy. I had to stop studying for the NCLEX-PN due to the fact that my husband was DX W/Stage4 NSCLC Adnenocarcinoma(sp) on Aug.2 2013. his first round of chemo meds he was on was Alimpta(sp) and Cisplatin q21 days then cancer had metastasis to the brain in late April of 2014, so he had 10rounds of radiation, then back on chemo that time he was on, I can't think of the med he was on. I do remember them giving it via "push" over about an 8-10minute time period they pushed it threw a port they'd put in above his heart after his 1rst chemo meds did a number on his veins. Then last October 2014, the chemo medication he was taking wasn't affective on his type of cancer like it was when he first went on it, which was shortly post radiation. And to this day 7/30/2015 he has been w/o any type of treatments what so ever. He has lost a significant amt of wt BUT he is still able to function, he is a lot slower but can still walk, talk for himself, he's capable of making up his own mind and making his needs known. I still let/allow him to do whatever he wants except drive, I'm scared whenever he drives, so that's why I do all the driving. But if we aren't going far and he wants to drive, then I'll let him. He is not at the point in this ordeal where I have to do everything, and while he still can I'll let him do whatever he wants.....the reason I am writing is that I want/need to get myself back into studying for my NCLEX. OSBN only allows 3yrs post graduation which i'm like 7mths past BUT I've talked with WSBN and they have no time restrictions on graduated nurse's, so I will take my NCLEX threw WA state instead of OR. I'd really like it I could find someone that could come to the house or met somewhere close to the house just in case, to re-educate me on things I need to know for the NCLEX. I have no, zero idea who or where to look, and if that doesn't work out, I'd like to know if my school books, materials are still good enough to use. I got them 4yrs ago and a lot may have changed I'm sure since then. I want to be licensed so bad, but I have to make sure I know my materials first..Thank you!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! This so called nurse has no place or business working with people. To call you out in front of other's is a big no no on so many level's If I were you and if you feel it necessary to do so, I would report her to the DON and make sure that something is done about this. I can almost bet that you wont be the last she does this too, and it's unfortunate b/c the only people that she is really going to hurt in the long run are the pts, clients/residents of the facility that you all work at. I had an instuctor do this to me while I was in school and I was on clinical site when she called me out for something she could of assisted me with w/o doing what she did and how she did it, needless to say she got repremanded, and last I've heard she no longer works at the school I went too. I do not put up with that sort of behavior from anyone, doesn't matter if they are my peir's or not. When one takes it to that level, your a nobody in my book. I don't know if your situation has been handled accordingly, and you do what you feel is right for not just you, but for everyone that has to deal w/this so called nurse.

------Sounds to me like he is having some MAJOR denial issue's with his situations, he is experiencing anger towards his situation which in turn is making his wife miserable. Is it a possibility that she could meet w/a Hospice team outside the home away from her husband? She is in dire need of answer's, a piece of mind, and rest from all of what she is doing. I too feel bad for her as her husband is being stuborn, which I too have seen in my career. Offer the wife phone numbers of resourse's that she herself can get ahold of w/o him knowing. Her husband is being selfish as well. These behaviors are NOT uncommon with people in his position and will "lash out" at those that they love because just maybe they are not ready to die yet. This is just my personal opinion as I have witnessed this behavior, but everyone is different. Sometimes you have to set your position aside in order to do whats best for those that need help....follow what is in your heart for his wife and not was has been taught per se.If you haven't already expierenced these type of pt's you will. Just keep in mind in order to help those in "dire straiaghts" its best to "step out of the box" just for that short time. I hope that this helps you jimmycakesRN and that it makes sense to you as well. People are different and have extrememly different ways of dealing/coping with life's situations.

How about Cengage Brain? Has anyone ever heard of that? Our school provided this review online course for those that failed the NCLEX-PN here in OR, this state is the hardest to pass the nclex exam.

GOOD LUCK! I'm not sure on the prices, however I have used Amazon to purchase review guides for the NCLEX-PN that I have yet to pass. I am thinking about doing the Kaplin NCLEX-PN review course they have, to help me pass that exam! Pray for me as well :) This online class cost $400.00 and that's the PN one am not sure about yours. I live in the state of OR and it is known that this state is the hardest to get licensed in. I don't understand why as the need is in great demand here and all over. I have taken the exam 2 times and failed by just a few questions. If I don't pass it the 3rd time, then I will have to take the nsg course all over again. Best of Luck to you...You can do it!!

I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOUR GOING THRU!!! I have taken the NCLEX PN 2 times now. In the state of OR. after the 3 time taking it if you do not pass you have to take the whole pn program over again! Also OR is the hardest state to pass the nclex! With the need of medical personal/nurse's I don't understand why this exam has to be so hard! I have used Kaplin, Cengage Brain, Sylvesteries(different additions) I am stuck on what to do next. Kaplin has an online course for NCLEX-PN & RN I think what this program does is teach you how to take the nclex, and it provides review questions as well. But the Cengage Brain is the closest study tool out there from what I've been told. The class that I was in, out of both am & pm classes, there where more that failed the nclex than what had passed. So ADMINISTRATOR if you could please tell me what I can do to pass this nclex or tell me should I call PearsonVue(they are the ones that make up this exam, or should I call the OSBN? I have no idea what to do, I can't afford to fail! PLEASE HELP

[color=#ee82ee]zookeeper, as a cna, i had alot of respect from my nursing piers. so when they where back in the er of a hospital/nursing home that i had been employeed at, there was a time where i was called back off the med/surg unit to assist in a code of a fellow co-worker, and when i stepped into er room the adreneline immediately kicked in and she was no longer my co-worker, she was a patient as like many others that had been in and out of er. she had a massive mi at home but her husband had called ems to come into the home and do what they needed to do in order to bring her in to er. it was hard on me and all the other staff members that took part in preforming life-saving techniques until the attending er dr. had called the code. as a cna the only things that i was allowed to do was to rite down meds given, how much, were it was injected and the time, and it all had to be precise and if not understood correctly a stand by would repeat what i needed to know, like time or injection site. then after all nursing staff had done compressions and were exhausted from doing those, i stepped up on a foot stool and took over, compressing as hard as i could and saying "come on you can do it may. it was long after when i got up there is when the dr. had called the code. then the reality of her being a co-worker had set in, and the rest of my day was hell, but i had a job to do. it was hell but i made it thru the rest of the day. so with all that being said, i never did anything that wasn't in my scope of practice as a cna, but i was capable of doing what i had to do and my nurse's i had worked with so many times knew that, they had alot of trust in me and didn't have to worry about anything when i was on the floor while they all had something going on in the er dept. i hope that this helped out for you, one day we will all have these expierences once and maybe more then you'd like in your career as a nurse. i moved up the ladder and am now an lpn, and hopefully sooner rather then later i would like to take an online rn-bsn course if those are avaliable. take care zookeeper, you will do alrite when in this situation...gotta have faith [color=#ee82ee]:heartbeat

NurseCard, I enjoyed working in LTC, I worked with a good team of CNAs and Nurses as well. The most Rewarding for me was when a family member came up to me and had asked "who took care of mom/dad today?" And my reply would be so & so did, and the look of appreciation, happiness that the family member had for the individual that took the extra time to make the family member look nice, was a "PRICELSS" reward. And that to me makes it all worthwhile, and there is no amount of monies that can match the gratitude felt from w/n you as a nurse, knowing you have a good team of cna's and they go above and beyond when doing pt. care. Granted you get really attached to that particular pt/resident and when the time comes where they pass away, it is hard as hell, BUT too you have to remember if they are critically ill and are in severe pain and suffering, it is only the right thing to do is to allow them to pass on and be in piece. If the family is there w/their loved one I have cried with them, and there is nothing wrong w/that, we are human too and have feelings just like the family. I truly love working in LTC and it does have its ups and downs, but I understand if a pt/resident wants to die, not to pro-long suffering & pain. Put yourself if there position if you will. l have been studying from the comprehensive edition 4, the book as well as the cd, doing the practice on the cd..the one w/3,000 plus questions, if you get the wrong answer it will let you review why you got it, rationale, stradegy for every question is there to help you...have you done that yet, it may help you idk, don't stress over it....i have major test anxiety and l am not worried, l am just going w/my gut if l don't know what the exacty answer is.....always go w/your gut instinct, it is almost always right....last but not least, HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF, keep saying, I CAN DO IT, I CAN I KNOW I CAN.... hope this helps ya.....l have to take mine wed and l got my game plan in place I HAVE FAITH IN YOU, YOU CAN DO IT! :yelclap::kiss

I have to take mine this coming wed. other classmates have stated to me that it isn't as bad as it is made out to be, so l am not stressing over the nclex, am just going to cram some more this weekend, review, maybe rest on monday, then rest or review on tuesday, get a good nite sleep eat lite wed. morning and test at 8am...l am sooo ready to get this under my belt and get r done! oh and to check to see if you passed or not, you shud go to your states board of nursing web site, put in your name and it will show you if your licensed or not, depending when you take it, you probably wont find out until the next day, but am not sure if ya take it early in the day.

congrat's nursemary I am like you God has gotten me thru so much, 9.5 months of PN schooling was insane, but I did it thanks to God and the determination, dedecation that I had to do the PN Program. I graduated on 2/25/12 and I just registered to take the NCLEX-PN on 4/25/12....I have lost that drive that I once had, I have never lost the guidence that God had provided for me while in school. I will get it back I have too because the date of my exam will be here b4 i know it.....do you have any advice? CONGRATS NURSEMARY :))

Hello out there, is any1 online now? I am scheduled to take my NCLEX-PN on April 25th @ 8am and i am so nerveous, worried, scared and all that pre-exam stuff. I want to pass this exam and be so done with this its not even funny. I went to Amazon and bought 5 books to help me w/studying for this test and now I have found different comments saying do this and do that? IM LIKE UGH! what to do? I have the Saunders comprehensive, Kaplin NCLEX-PN review, Hesi NCLEX, REA'S interactive flashcard study book, and the NCLEX-PN REVIEW made INCREDIBLY EASY....WHAT ELSE DO I NEED? I have an idea about gathering different health issues and finding the drug, the interactions, nursing interventions, patient teaching and everything else that goes along w/helping me study for this test! I know i am over doing it, but l am an ol lady kinda :)) and i need all the help i can get! If any1 out there has ANY ADVICE PLEASE LET ME KNOW, PLEASE. Has anyone heard of the Hurst review for NCLEX-PN? I am wondering about this study tool as well, but enuf is enuf I would say. I would deeply appreciate any and all tips, comments and anything else in helping me w/this test. THANK YOU

nursexo, i signed up for my NCLEX w/Pearson Vue and take it on April 25th...my question to you is were on the Pearson Vue site does it have practice questions at OR is it for Pearson students that took the PN course w/them? I have been studying the Kaplin NCLEX as well as the Saunders COMP. review for the PN NCLEX as well. So do you have any types for anyone that is taking the test after you? GOOD LUCK, I HOPE THAT YOU DO WELL!!
