Dismissed from FNP program
I agree with Juan's comments. You should definitely appeal at the university level in an attempt to remove the dismissal from your record. If not, you surely facing a uphill battle trying to gain admission into any NP program. I had a friend who was dismissed for clinical issues and she hasn't yet gain admission to any NP program so far. Have you considered looking into CNS or Education? Good Luck.

new NP cant find a job
Hello all, I graduated from NP school a year ago this month, passed boards and received my license in Oct 2012. Unfortunately, I have not found a job in my new chosen profession as of yet. I have been on several interviews but, in the end the job always goes to the NP who has the experience. And the jobs that are advertised on the career sites (career builder, indeed etc...) want NP's with 1 or 2 years of experience. At first I didn't worry too much but, now I'm down right frustrated and depressed that I am still working as a RN. It seems like no one wants to invest the time and patience to hire a new grad NP these days. Any advice, or suggestions please. Thanks

Here's my story...
Speaking for my own personal experiences with the application process. Yes, getting the application packet ready is very stressing. But, in the end when you achieve your goal the stress is quickly forgotten. I know you should apply to as many schools in your area or out of state (if willing to travel) as possible. As someone said earlier never place all your eggs in one basket. I have a friend who was accepted into U of M Flint's Anesthesia program in Dec and will start in 06. And I will be attending Oakland Univ this fall. Good Luck!

Minority SRNA/CRNA's
I find this thread very interesting because these are some of the same questions I have pondered. I was fortunate enough to meet 2 African American female CRNA's. Since, this meeting they have always been a great source of encouragement to me and my goals of becoming a CRNA. As a African American woman I know that we have to strive and work harder to enter the field. But, never give up and my best advice is to try network with these CRNA's they are always willing to help other minorities who have drive and determination. I know that hard work, determination and drive is what got me accepted into an Anesthesia program for 2006.

Waiting for result of interview, Can't be relaxed.
I understand exactly how everyone feels. I just found out I was accepted this morning from Oakland University. The best advice is to think positive thoughts ( I know its hard), stop replaying the questions asked and how you responded during the inteview. Trust me it will drive you crazy!!! If you believe in God or some higher power than relax and keep the faith. Most of the time we underestimate how well we performed during high stress situations. Good Luck to all.

PleeeeZ help me with organization - vent
I know exactly how you feel, I started in med-surg as a new grad and worked there for 3 years. It takes a while to get organized and focused especially with 7-8 patients. You need to focus and do what is most important. Which is patient assessments. You always need to know what is going on with the patient. Also grasp the concept of delegation to the patient care associates. Above all you need to realize that nursing is a 24 hour process. If certain tasks just cant get done on your shift, then the next RN needs to get it done. Believe me I am talking from experience. Always complete your documentation no matter what. Be patient you get there.

Help with application essay
Hi everyone, I am starting the tedious process of writting my application essay. One program wants a goal statement and another program wants an autobiography/goal statement. How much personal background information on myself should I include in the essay. Also I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions to help me create a great essay. Thanks

Hi everyone; Just would like a little info on which CRNA program is better Oakland University or University of Detroit-Mercy. I heard that U of D CRNA's are more respected than Oakland Unversity CRNA's. Just wondering if anyone can shed some in sight into either one of these programs. Or just have you heard? Thanks
