  1. Hello all. I need some advise from some unbiast people, so here I go... I graduated from nursing school with my ASN in December of 2011. For those of you who can count, yes that was over a year ago. Between my graduation and now, I was in a cycle of unemployment (no money for the $200 Pearson test fee, and then $240 fee to FL board of nsg) and homelessness until July of last year. I got a full time job, and got into gear (and financially stable enough to pay the fees) to take my NCLEX asap. I received my ATT on October 12th, and scheduled my exam on October 19th for September 20th. 4 days later, my father unexpectedly passed away, 4 days after that my daughter and I were kicked out of where we were living and had no choice but to relocate "home" 110 miles from where I worked, so again I found myself unemployed with a child to support. Besides focusing on sorting my father's estate, I had to focus on work to survive. Studying for the NCLEX was not an option. I found employment but I'm barely making ends meet while caring for my child alone. I am now at the end of my 90 days of my ATT and I'm staring the NCLEX 10 days down the road from now. And again I have to move so my time outside of work has been focused on looking for an apartment I can afford. The FL board of nursing cannot give me an extention on my ATT and Pearson cannot either. I spoke to the FL board of nursing and was told that I could pass taking my test, pay another $200 to Pearson to test and the nsg board will reissue me another ATT. This new ATT will give me enough time to correctly prepare. Let me remind you, I'm over a year out of nursing school. However, many of my friends and family are uring me to just study as much as I can while working 5-6 days a week and take the test on the 17th. IF I fail it, I will not only be out another $200 to Pearson, but also another application fee to the FL board of nursing. Any advice here for my situation, and also any advice to those who didn't/couldn't take their NCLEX right after graduation. Thanks in advanced and God Bless
  2. Hi y'all. I'm unemployed and am looking for suggestions for FREE NCLEX-RN study materials, pref online or in an app for Android, perhaps. Also, my parents CC may be able to help me purchase some study materials if they're inexpensive. I currently have the Mosby's 19th Ed. review book w/CD, and my godmother (daughter and I live with her) is a librarian so she can get me any books as well. I'm brand new to this site, so any help is appreciated, even if re-directing to a prior post. Thanks in advanced :)
  3. Thanks for sharing all this; you put a lot of effort into this post. your first paragraph is me to a t...I graduated 12-7-11 and here I am 3+ months and I haven't applied for my license yet due to a handful of excuses..."I will fail and have to do this test again"..."I'm too dumb to pass"...blah blah blah, etc., etc., etc....(also currently I'm unemployed and don't have the $204 the state of fl requires to apply, excluding Pearson's $200 fee) and today I will finally click the submit button on my license application and the waiting game for my ATT begins (thank you parent's cc#). Also, my first degree/career was BFA in interior design from the University of Louisville (go cards!!!!), so also loved seeing you drop 'ol pitino's name. Ok, y'all....wish me luck and here we go!
