When i was a new nurse, i sliced my finger after breaking an ampule; and to this day i sweat, get palpitations...thank God for my workmates who help me to open them if i have to. But i know in case of an emergency and i have to open one i will.

Tb
If a pt is suspected of having TB, they are to be kept in isolation/airborne precautions till proven otherwise. But i think some doctors dont take these preventative measures serious, putting you at risk for catching something. Follow up with employee health for further/future testing.

Blood transfusion
And i have learnt i need to ask questions before i leave work coz ive been trying to find more answers the whole weekend This patients BP on the left arm was 102/44mmhg and on the right arm was 99/56. HR 88. He was also getting D51/2 NS @ 50ml/hr. No edema. Everybody says its to prevent fluid overload but iam not satisfied with this answer. Going back to work tomorrow and i hope the pt is still there so i can find out from the MD who wrote the order if there is possibly another reason:idea:

Blood transfusion
1.What is the minimum amount of time you can transfuse one unit of PRBc- i know max is four hours 2. Why give lasix after a transfusion For example had a pt with an order of 2 units PRBC'S. Give lasix 40 mg after first unit. Pt had a DX of Gi bleed and chronic anemia, H/H 6.1/18.1. I am a new nurse- 3rd week on my own. From my workmates/google it seems its to prevent fluid overload. Pt has no chf. Any more info ?

How are the other RN's treating you?
- Graduated in 1999 and gave up after 3 times
first of all i want to wish you luck in your upcoming nclex. i just graduated in may 2007. i had to take a review course for three weeks ( mon to friday, 8am to 4pm) to kind of refresh my memory of all i had learnt in nursing school. ncsbn reviews and changes format of questions every three years so you will find fill in the blanks, select all that apply, click on a hot spot, rearrange answers in a specific format etc. i would encourage you to strongly consider taking a refresher course, also use different books , look for the latest editions with the new format questions like saunders, mosby, lippincot and springhouse so as to get a different view of questions from different authors. as you know the boards are set by many people. i got the books from the library so i didnt have to buy them. then make an effort to do at least 200 questions per day and before you do the boards at least 5, 000 practise questions. remember to take breaks, eat well, exercise or do something that you love. i had to work full time and go to school fulltime but i was determined to do whatever it takes for me to succeed. it is important to have faith in yourself that you can do anything. and never give up!- I hate nursing....
Patients and families who are grieving need a lot of support and understanding especially when death is imminent. They go through different emotions ; remember denial, anger, deppression, bargaining and acceptance. So sometimes they have good days and most of the time bad days. Just try to understand that they will never see their loved one again so they are trying to get every minute that they can with this patient and you are doing your job (in their eyes disturbing them). Remember support, understanding, and probably when you have to do something for the pt, just say if you need anything let me know and give them space.- I cant take it anymore. Frustrated and depressed
It's all about location- there are many jobs in the North east area and they pay well too. Stay strong-Hope you find something soon.- list 200 functions of the liver
Thank you all for these info. (they're actually the same ones i'm talkin about) i need to find 200 of them. The google sites lists the 10 most important ones of the 200 but none of the sites lists all of them. :chair: :chair:- list 200 functions of the liver
I need help with finding at least 200 functions of the liver. I can only find about 10 from my books/i've tried google. Anybody know a site or book that could be helpful ?- undocumented immigrant wants to be a nurse
Why will you not be able to do NCLEX (just curious )The fact that you are almost graduating from a 2yr program to me i think means you can do the exam i also think you can get an immigration lawyer and ask for advise.- Looking to relocate,to a kid friendly, LPN friendly city that pays good. Any suggest?
