My oh my. I started the process for LAC-USC in May of last year. 3 weeks after I applied, I got an email inviting me to take their personality exam. I took the exam the next day. I got my results a week later, and I was told I would be placed on the list of qualified candidates. I was also instructed to call the recruiting team in HR to let them know I passed the test. They told me they would be in contact with me and they asked that I send my resume, a copy of my BLS, and a copy of my license information. I went ahead and forwarded what they requested. It took me almost a year to finally secure an interview which I have next week. Upon reading this forum, I see that it takes forever to onboard. Am I going to have to wait another 6 months to a year to start working if they offer me the position? I mean I will if I have to but man, that's a long time. I do have another job right now and I am not in a hurry to onboard, but wow. I am just in shock on how long it takes to onboard, that's even if I get hired. Let me know what yall think or what your experience has been.

We are doing lab. No clinicals. However, I was told that the lab component may be on campus depending if they don't lock us down again. I guess they will discuss all of that information on the 7th.

I am in HD as well and I have not received it either. My co-worker got into the IE campus and she got all the information. Yes, financially speaking it is overwhelming. They want you to pay for a background check, physical exam, TB test, make sure you have a current CPR card and if we want to test out of Pharmacology or Nutrition, it is 100 bux a piece. You don't have to test out of both tests now. You can do Pharm first, then Nut. Also, I was told by my rep that we can not work full time. That we need to cut our hours to part time. Supposedly we will be going Tues and Thursdays all day and Friday 8:30am-11:00am. Hope this information helps.

I got an email today to RSVP for orientation as well. I think they’ll go into details about all this at the orientation.

You do what is best for you and your family. Like I stated previously, my friend passed the placement and NCLEX-RN the first time. It is doable, for sure.

Yes, that is really bad. Stats don't lie. A lot of community colleges do better than that. Yikes!

Hi SoCaliLVN, I too was researching this school as I was waiting to hear from Azusa Pacific. I also wanted more options but thank God, I did get accepted at APU. A friend of mine who went through this program in 2016, recommended this school to me just in case. This is the information I got. She was able to obtain a California RN license through this program. The school does have a clinical component to it however, right now as it stands with COVID, it may be a little tough getting clinical sites close to you. If you are willing to travel, then you'll be set. Just make sure to verify with the school that you will be able to sit for the boards in California. My friend also recommended to go through their ADN program as it is cheaper and it takes less time. They do have a placement exam for LVN's, if you pass the placement exam, you are looking at about 8 mos. time to finish. It is a bit pricey but not 100K. You'll have to look at the website to see how much it is per unit. She recommends you buy the Saunders NCLEX-RN book to study for the placement exam. She passed on her first try. She also passed her boards on her first try. The downside is that their passing rate is somewhat low in general. We should take into consideration that many of the students don't have clinical experience. But you are an LVN, so you are familiar with the process and you obviously have the knowledge as you passed your NCLEX-PN. Call them on Monday and see what they tell you. The same day that I scheduled an appointment with the representative at this school, is the same day that I received my acceptance letter from APU. So, of course, I am opting to go to APU. But this program is good for other students that are struggling to get into programs. I hope this information helps.

Hi Ashley, I will tell you what I did. I re-took all of my science classes again as they were old and my grades were average. Not competitive at all. My science GPA went from average to a 3.9 and my cumulative is a 3.4. Experience, I have been an LVN for 17 years. Essay counted significantly as did your references. If need to, work on your sciences even if you take 1 or 2 over, at least they will see that you’ve made an effort. Make sure you get trusted people that care about you and want you to succeed as a reference. Had I applied without doing any of this, I know I would not have not gotten in. You can do this, you got this.

Amen to that! The beauty of it is that there is more to nursing than just Kaiser. So many opportunities out there for nurses. Other places are becoming more competitive.

I was almost in tears ?. My joy was taken from me when they told me this. So now I have to look for something else. It sucks. I’m doing this program. It took me 20 years to get here. I’m sorry Kaiser won’t work with you. They have in the past. I wonder why! My friend is going through this program and they are very flexible with her.

I got in to the HD campus. SB was my first choice but that’s OK, as long as I got accepted, that’s what matters. Congrats to all who were accepted.
