  1. Hello. I am hoping to get some insight from everyone about informatics. I've been working as a nurse for over 3 years and am currently planning to start my MSN informatics. If you have experience or know any insight about informatic nursing please feel free to let me know! Also, what certifications should I get? To help with getting a job after graduating what would you recommend to volunteer somewhere? Any comments will be greatly appreciated!
  2. Is it wierd that I got a verbal offer 3 weeks ago but still haven't gotten my written offer ?
  3. Have you gotten a written offer yet ?
  4. Hey! I applied here as well! Did you hear back from them or gotten an offer from there ?
  5. Has anyone gotten a written or verbal offer ??
  6. Has anyone heard back from their interviews?
  7. Hey! So I applied for critical care and did a video interview and have a face to face interview in few days!
  8. No I don't mind the military presence. I searched and it mentioned how high the crime rate is. Also the first day I visited Killeen I parked at Starbucks and a car pulled up next to me and asked me to give him some money and that he doesn't want to make anything difficult to happen... so I fumbled to get my wallet and gave him a $20 and he parked out and drove away.
  9. Don't be discouraged! You CAN and WILL pass!! You should try Kaplan self paced, in person, or live course. It is pricey but I used this because I thought uworld was not helpful for me and it worked because I passed my nclex! I used the kaplan course for a month and a half... since you are retaking it in march.. but you should still consider trying the kaplan course :) Kaplan helps you how to answer the nclex style questions.
  10. Just wondering when did you guys hear back for an interview after submitting your application?
  11. There are 132 beds in the ER and it's a trauma center. And yes they have a dedicated educator. For 2 weeks orientation on the computers and floor then the rest few months with couple preceptors (I get to switch off with whom I like working with the best).
  12. Anyone who is familiar with the Killeen area or have heard of it please let me know (i'm new to Texas)! Can anyone tell me about their experience working as a nurse in the city of Killeen? Is it safe? Do nurses get hired here easily unlike dallas, plano, carrollton, or fort worth? Do people prefer not to work in Killeen due to many reasons like safety concerns? Any general info would be greatly appreciated!
  13. Hello everyone! So I am going to tell you what I used to pass the nclex on December 2016! I told myself after I passed I would write about it to help others because i also read so many of these nclex posts before taking my nclex ! I didn't use a lot of materials to prepare for NCLEX. I used Kaplan NCLEX RN Prep self paced course which was $399 and it expires after 3 months. I promise I'm NOT a salesperson for Kaplan haha This course helped me step by step on how to tackle the nclex style questions. If you're a checklist kind of person like me, then this course provides you with a checklist with a date completion check box next to it. So you can check off your completed courses and progress. I know everyone and myself kept saying Kaplan is hard and just do Uworld (I preferred Kaplan over uworld -and no I am not the smartest person at all) but Kaplan got "easier" for me as I was progressing through the course because I was using their strategy to answer the nclex style questions. I completed everything in this course except for the 2 big practice exams at the end. It took me about a month and a half to complete this course then I took my nclex ! Lastly i briefly read over the 35 page study guide to go over the precautions once a day until the day of my Nclex. Besides the precautions pneumonia on the study guide, in my opinion the other info was not useful. Let me me know if you guys have any questions or concerns ! :)
  14. Hello everyone ! I'm a new grad nurse who recently got a job offer at the ER (not a residency program)!!! I also applied to some nurse residency programs and am still waiting to hear back from them. Should I start off in a nurse residency program or take this job offer at the ER ? any advice would be appreciated ! :)
